was Jaime's "I don't believe you" in reference to Cersei letting the Mountain kill him? or him doubting she was really having another child?

Idk I really loved this season as a whole, and felt this finale is setting up the final eps nicely.

They played the "will Cersei die by the hand of her brother?" tension well tonight by giving us plenty of Lannister interaction. When Jaime went in alone, I literally went, "Oh! Is this it?!"

  9. They don't have GAAM's writing anymore so that probably explains it hah

  10. Yeah this episode had all/most of the same flaws the rest of the season had but I did not give a shit about any of them while watching, it was way too awesome seeing all that shit happen lol. I was so excited for the R+L=J(A?) reveal

I would never compare this show to TWD. That whole scene in the Dragonpit was so tense, and the dialogue was perfect.

Definitely enjoyed it more than last week's episode. Nice to see so much payoff finally happen (those badass muthafuckin Stark sisters finally serving LF was perfect), but I'm dreading the Long Night before Season 8.

Or was it an incredulous "I don't believe you just did that"? That's one scene that has me a bit confused.

I really likes the episode and I'm usually a pretty big critic of it. You guys are savage. My biggest problem with it was that the giant wall of ice fell down but the ground was nice and flat for them to pass through.

    well duh

they're stuck making their own plot points without as much tethering them down and it's in a much more constrained timeline so they're forcing things and it's not working

i'm enjoying the show still but it's in a very different way than before

A lot of people hold the SOIAF books in a lot higher esteem than I do. Or at least they perceive the gap in quality between the two a lot higher than I do.

i think each has their own individual flaws, the book tries to do too much because it has the ability to do so but the show doesn't have as much good storytelling ability as the book

Sooo glad they finally had Jaime leave Cersei. His redemption/inner conflict after returning to KL was one of my favorite parts of the book

The show is absolutely pushing the more lazy and streamlined show area. But it is still nowhere close to being bad or TWD level.

Also, I think it's still so strange how they built up this romance between Jon and Dany and they are actually banging as they tell you they are aunt and nephew, and you're supposed to feel like happy they're together, but to me it just seems sort of like they are trying to normalize it? (maybe poor wording). Before it was always the "evil twins" and some old lines of families, but to see the two related main characters....

I know GRRM has always had this kind of twisted thing where he wanted Jon and Arya to flirt a little or end up with Jon and Dany but, like....it's still odd and absolutely doesn't help fight the slippery slope argument that people have been making lol. Same goes for the "no marriage, very liberating" comments with Missandei.

Just thought it was an interesting thing with how it was all written, and I'm not sure how it will all play out

Just a reminder that Westeros is roughly only about 23-25 years removed from being ruled by a Brother-Sister King-Queen.

Because you're the second person to mention it - I said the ways in which we talk about the shows are the same. Not the quality, just the ways in which we praise them. When the Walking Dead is good, which is very rare, it's awesome and cool and kick ass. And there's nothing at all wrong with that. But this show has been about more than just being "awesome." So to see the last few episodes tonally shift in the way we are intended to celebrate it is disappointing.

Also, wasn't that Arya/Jon thing from the initial idea for the series?

Good finale. I love that Baelish got taken out. But, I did think it was weird to have Jon and Dany having sex, whilst his origins were revealed. I think it's interesting that Robert's Rebellion was based on a lie. Did Robert perpetuate it because he couldn't come to terms with his betrothed leaving him or what? Also, the last scene was fucking fantastic.
