    Tyrion and Bronn
    Tyrion and Pod
    Brienne and The Hound
    Brienne and Jaime
    Tyrion and Cersei
    Jaime and Cersei
    Jon and Theon
    Stark Siblings conning Littlefinger

So many little moments (that last one is major, for sure) that were seasons in the making.

I'll be worried about Tormund until it leaks he survives. Tormund/Brienne is still forever endgame for the show.

It was a different actor according to google but yeah he def looked like Viserys a little bit.

Honestly I"m a little upset we didn't more than those few seconds with those two. I was hopeful we'd get a few more glimpses of thsoe lovebirds being all lovebirdy.

That was nearly flawless. That was one of the best episodes of the series, all the moving parts of this story that is A Song of Ice and Fire all moving together and coming together in nearly pitch perfect drama. The Tyrion/Cersei scene was emotional and expertly acted, the Theon fight was emotional action: catharsis and redemption through a brawl in a setting that enhances the thematics (the beach/water), the narrative twists and turns were dramatized expertly with the requisite build-up leading up to it (particularly the Cersei double-cross reveal/Sansa's charges of murder and treason reveal). I've loved Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's performance as Jamie basically the whole series, but especially in recent seasons, partially because I feel like the character's gotten unfairly maligned because the show was doing something slightly different with him than the books, but I loved his dual performance as the swaggering, cock-of-the-walk Kingslayer when he's with Bronn or something versus his quiet, whimpering, downtrodden glumness when he's with Cersei, and he played the straw breaking the camel's back brilliantly when he left Cersei. The meeting was very, very good. I know the initial plan to just bring a wight to Cersei was mocked and I think it deserves some of it, but they compensated for the stupidity of that plan well here making the wight truly terrifying and everyone's reactions to it expressing just how abnormal and important seeing this firsthand is. And the Jon parentage reveal. It felt amazing to finally hear it explicitly in the show and I love that they leave the implications up in the air. Just one thing.

I just wish Dany and Jon didn't bone down. Everything that happened this episode was with thematic purpose, it made the narrative more intriguing, the relationships more nuanced, the message of the show more clear. Even the humorous conversation between Bronn and Jamie about how "maybe it's all about cocks" was, while low-brow, laced with double meaning given the show's ultimate thematics about women holding the true power and coming into power, it even comes back when Theon gets kneed in the nuts to no effect because he doesn't have any nuts: again reinforcing the broken and downtrodden and different as coming into power to disrupt the status quo. But what does Jon and Dany's hook-up actually do? What thematic weight does their affair have? It's the show/book series at it's most soap opera-y, which I don't think is always a bad thing, but it's just a hookup that's implications aren't really weighted and poignant, but more about pure plot or character relationship stuff. Maybe Jorah gets bummed? And of course the political ramifications of a marriage between Dany and Jon are big, but as they repeatedly said this episode, this isn't about houses or banners or titles, it's about the living vs. the dead. The army of the dead just tore down the fucking wall with a dragon, the technicalities of a Jon/Dany alliance are pretty trivial in comparison. And of course it might affect how some of the northern lords feel about Jon, but at this point who gives a fuck? Again it's about so much more than that, so much more is going on, and Jon has proven himself over and over and over and over and over again to be Ned Stark's son (echoed nicely in his conversation with Theon: "You're a Greyjoy. And you're a Stark" has nice double meaning when paired with Jon's parentage, biological and non-biological). So I just hate that he and Dany did the dirty. It's incest, the show announces it very loudly it as incest, but still tries to play the scene romantically/sexy. And it's not a relationship as well textured and dramatized and brought to life as Jon and Ygritte's, I like when Jon and Dany talk but honestly feel like their scenes would be more enjoyable if the show didn't go for the romantic subtext, and just played them as people who come to know and respect each other. We'll see how they contextualize it in the remaining season but I just really hate it right now.

It's a pretty large sticking point in what was otherwise as close to perfect as episodes of this series or books in this series have gotten. It felt like catharsis and resolution while also propelling forward dramatically and in intriguing ways. It closes certain arcs and storylines and leaves the fallout to work in conjunction with the final story arc, and it advances the still developing arcs to places of narrative honesty. I enjoy the show a lot, but this episode reminded me why I used to really fucking love it. It hasn't been this good in seasons.

I'm pretty sure he and Beric ran west on the wall and are still on the part still standing.

My guess is they have to march all the way to Castle Black to get back down now, that's how we'll get Edd and the rest of the Night's Watch in the game for the final war.

The show has always been dumb fantasy pulp. The book series was, too. But it does interesting stuff with it and can be smart and at its best is very good entertainment.

This episode had some of the absolute best scenes of the season and some of the worst. Pretty decent finale. Echoing the comments about the jon/dany scene
