And you're probably why most fans hate how popular it's become. People can be critical of TV shows and not accept that 'entertainment = flawless'. For you, thinking critically may take the joy out of it, but for others, it only adds to it.

 

yeah i'm beyond caring about the travel times honestly. it does seem a bit silly that gendry was able to run all the way back, get a raven sent, and have dany show up all within like 15-20 mins of show-time, but i don't want to see the opposite, where we wait 2 episodes for it to happen for sake of realistic travel time.

the benjen moment was awful. so rushed and forced and just, maybe my least favorite moment so far this season.

i KNEW tormond wasnt going to die, which kind of ruined that scene for me. give me that scene a few seasons ago and i would have been on the edge of my sofa chewing on my nails, but the "teasing main character death and then nothing happening" is just so worn on me at this point.

hoping the sansa/arya drama gets wrapped up next week as well.

 

Sansa mentioned that Jon's been gone for weeks so I don't think the travel times are all that ridiculous. They're just jumping forward a lot and not pacing it as much as before because there aren't as many simultaneous stories going on that they could focus on like they used to in previous seasons.

 

This episode was not up to this show's standards.

Probably my least favorite episode in general.

 

I wonder how they made the determination that two short seasons would be sufficient.

 

They were. When the were on the rock, Tormand had a big axe with dragonglass on it and Jorah had a dagger as well. I think the Hound may have pulled something out of his coat too when he threw down Gendry's hammer.

When jon fell into the water my first thought was "oh no, he's gonna ride the ice dragon out, isn't he?" so I'm glad that, however stupid this episode was, they didn't do that

 

i missed the talk earlier but lost is definitely a better show than thrones

 

I kept thinking the other dragon was going to come back for him and he would ride it out.

 

"Maybe that's enough." "Aye. Maybe that's enough."

This major, determinant battle was triggered by The Hound being bored and throwing stones at White Walkers.

 

to a degree the comparison is weird because at the very least thrones had the source material to pull from and now that that's gone we've seen the writing go off the rails, but lost was a masterwork at ensemble characterwork

 

i can't tell if i do agree or not, just because i never watched Lost while it was on TV except the last few episodes ever, so I never experienced the suspense in waiting between episodes let alone seasons to find out what happened after the cliffhangers. i imagine if that had been my experience i might agree with you, but just the way GoT leaves me feeling for days after a GREAT episode is so hard to match in TV these days.

 

No spoiler, just my speculation but I don't think Dany is going to live to even see this happen tbh.

 

i watched lost on netflix afterwards as well. the way that show really got people invested in characters was brilliant, and that's also why i think westworld sucks, because they weren't able to do any of that.

 

It's interesting how different the reactions have been from those who watched the leak vs who waited

 

when a character i liked on Lost died, i felt like i lost a friend, as corny as it seems. I never felt that way during GoT, maybe because death is so much more abundant in GoT.

It took me a while to get over Charlie.

 

Also, has Dany ever been called Dany in the books? Jon calling her that felt more like fan service than anything.

In any case, that whole scene was rom-com level cringe-worthy.

 

yup, exactly. the investment in those people on that island is something that as i've watched more tv i've realized is one of the hardest things to do.

I don't know how to compare Lost to Thrones, but Lost was one of the greatest television shows ever created. If you have a problem with the ending, you didn't really get what made it special in the first place.

Also, I always find it annoying how people think Lost never answered it's questions, when really they just gave simple answers, and people couldn't accept it for what it was. (i.e. but they never answered what the black smoke was?!? Yes they did. It was a security system for the island. It was said multiple times, case closed.)

And yea I'm still trying to get over Charlie's death.

 

I just enjoy that the character that by far says "aye" the most on this show is Beric...let alone when they have other characters like Jon saying it to him...
