You were already hardpressed to find an opinion worse than "criticism is useless and takes the fun out of the show" but my god you've done it.

Lost was excellent. I will hear no slander.

Lost did polar bears better if we're being honest

Lost was garbage, a textbook example on how to not write television. Tell you what, I'll agree with you if only if you explain why the episode that explains Jack's tattoos was vital to the show. Do your best.

    I just... fuck.

Definitely felt very deus exey. Show makes getting from Winterfell to King's Landing seem like a giant chore, but then apparently a raven can fly to Dragonstone and dragons can fly north in a matter of what, a day? Benjen stuff was over the top.

Arya stuff I also felt like could've been handled a lot better. I don't mind the whole "Her time in Bravos training to be a killer detached her from humanity and turned her into a sociopath" angle. But it felt like a dramatic character shift in this episode, instead of something we should've saw earlier in this season too.

It's still certainly engrossing television. Turns out I was not emotionally ready for zombie dragon. But felt like I spent much more time being angry at the writing for not making sense, than angry at the writing for being so brilliantly tragic like I have in the past. And that's a bit of a shame.

Also is it reasonable to be annoyed that Jon never once gave any thought of giving Longclaw to Lyanna Mormont, but as soon as Jorah shows up he is like "here take sword"?

    Counterpoint one: She is 12

Counterpoint two: Commander Mormont gave Longclaw to Jon knowing she was around, but thinking Jorah wasn't coming back. Thus he thought she didn't deserve to have it, but the Jorah possibility was unaccounted for. In other words, Jon isn't the sexist one he is just following sexist instructions.

But its still her family sword. She should have it. Right?

I'm not sure how this should work honestly...Technically she wasn't in line for the sword because she was not a son or daughter of Jeor...but if Jorah was his only kid....?

An important distinction: Viserion was killed directly by the NK, so he won't come back as a regular zombie dragon. He'll come back as a goddamn Ice dragon..

If I had one honest complaint, where in the fuck was Jon's uncle this whole time and why did he show up now only to die

What if GRRM had this planned for the books?

Shouldn't linage for the sword follow the same path as linage for the house?

That sorta was his whole thing last season. Show up randomly to help his nephew then peace the fuck out.

That's what I would assume...I guess Jon just really assumed "Jeors son or bust"

I've started to think George is an evil genius who pureposly let the show surpass the books so he could see how they handle finishing the story. That way he could see what doesn't work and just not do that.

At this point, I would agree with you. Left the show finish and then drop the last books. Money out the ass.

Sure. I'm just wondering how reasonable it is to be annoyed at Jon's reasons for his assumption

The more I dwell on it, the more I'm disappointed how Benjen returns to immediately sacrifice himself.

The more I think about it, the more I hate this episode, and it sounds the season as a whole. So many bad, unexplainable, or just implausible decisions made.

Also, Littlefingers death is pretty inevitable at this point, but what happens to the Knights of the Vale at that point? Since the North has now bent the knee, could Dany give it to someone?

Well Benjen could have been watching the whole time waiting for an opportunity. There wasn't exactly anything he could do when they were all surrounded and waiting for Dany. But yeah... That part was terrible. They probably really just had to wrap up his story and this was the easiest way.

This killed me too. Also, has anyone brought up the white walker polar bear? That was cool to see.

Someone mentioned why wouldn't Cersei believe in the wights because of The Mountain. Isn't it a very closely guarded secret that he is what he is? Makes sense they feel like they'd have to show her proof.

I feel like the Mountain would give her less reason to believe. Aside from the Mountain not being comparable to an ancient army of the dead, the Mountain is loyal and under her control. Why should she fear the dead when that's her only experience?

I thought it was pretty cool how Thoros and Beric lit their swords on fire. Although fire doesn't seem to necessarily effect them as much anymore? The Hound's line to Beric about being careful because his priestess was gone felt genuine which was nice to see. Though I did hate he couldn't save Thoros after just being saved by him.
