Re: Spin offs....it would be total book reader fan service, and I can't imagine they'd get the ratings to justify the huge budget it would need...but I want one of them to be about Lomas Longstrider. I wanna see the whole known world like Sothoryos and YiTi and Naath and etc

Yeah I'd be into The Long Night as well.
though I imagine since we're kind of seeing that play out again in this series it might feel redundant hah

I watched it last night and of course wanted to see what people on the internet were saying about it, but I didn't know that ALL of the spoilers were out there. I went to read a discussion and sure enough, someone was like "That won't happen because we already know from the leaked script that ________ does that in the season finale".

    It's hard to avoid.

I've had the big thing spoiled already (thanks friends on twitter) and another of the things (which you guys have been talking about on here) I already knew anyway, but yeah, it's a bitch. Just in the most random of places there's spoilers. Like football Reddit threads and things.

I know, people will just start going on about them in random places. It's kind of weird at this point because so much of what happens isn't really a surprise anymore, but it ruins the anticipation just the same. Everyone's basically predicted everything that's been happening, but it's just a matter of when/how that is still a surprise.

Not a spoiler, but given the group that went beyond the Wall, I loved that like 1/4 of this episode was small interactions between characters I assumed would never meet

I think my biggest disappointment with any main characters this season is the lack of Bran. His storyline has arguably had the most theories surrounding it and even seems like he could have been one of the most important beings in history, but all he's done this season is....make it to Winterfell and act like a weirdo. I know there's a whole season left but I feel like he has to be heavily involved in that handful of episodes to live up to his potential.

Yeah one of my biggest gripes, particularly after watching the recent leak - is how certain situations could be solved and avoided if he just piped up.

Some of us in this thread talked about this earlier, but it doesn't really make sense why he's acting this way (possibly because of the speed at which the show is moving now). He was perfectly normal last season after escaping the Night King. Then when this season premiered, he was a robot for no apparent reason. Of course it makes sense that he was overloaded with information but it's like he totally lost all of his urgency out of nowhere. They definitely did not build up to his strange personality this season.

Agreed. But even more basically than that, some of the shit that's going on ie Sansa and Arya butting heads and looking like they might kill each other could be solved if he just said "uh nah, no need" and explained why that is actually happening. He knows. We know he knows already from scenes this season.

Does his knowledge preclude him from action? Did the 3ER ever set restrictions on how he could use his knowledge?

Good question, would be a bit weird if that was the case. Having such power and being unable to use it. He saw the army of the dead marching and was able to act enough to get people to send ravens for that, so it'd be weird if it was so selective.

Eh I don't think it's that weird. We have no idea how far away from the Wall him and Meera met Benjen is, or where the 3ER's tree/cave is. He's pretty much slowly starting to unscroll the entire history of everything, and whatever is left of Bran is going to get washed away it seems. If anything, him not busting out his omniscient powers all of a sudden would be a boring deus ex machina if it happened right away

But he supposedly spent years in the tree (he physically grew a whole lot in there) and it hardly affected him, then just in the time it took him to get to Winterfell he became a robot.

It also seems much lamer for him to sit at Winterfell making criptic comments to everyone and then inserting him whenever it's convenient for the plot. The logical thing would have been for him to immediately prove to everyone what he was capable of in order to make a case for joining Jon against the Night King. Instead he's just going to sit back and relax until he can tell Jon about his parentage.

He was learning how to become the 3ER all those years, it was an incredibly slow process. It all came to a head when the Night King killed the current 3ER and sped the process up exponentially. It was like "Oh, I'm the 3ER now." Kinda didn't get a chance to continue the slow path.

I wouldn't say he's relaxing. He hasn't really done much of anything plot-wise except freak Littlefinger out and say goodbye to Meera. He's not really Bran anymore, so we can't expect him to feel the same sort of connection to his family since he's all omnipotent and everything now.

I guess realistically with the pace of this season there's no convenient way to show his transformation without a bunch of tedious scenes so we're left with quick cuts and a snippet here and there. I prefer that rather than long drawn out conversations with a bunch of characters who have no idea what he's on about, much like Sansa when he tried to explain it to her.

My point was more that it's a cheap way of writing him. He showed no signs of not being himself when he finally woke up last season and now he suddenly has no reason to contribute to the plot because he's the 3ER. It feels more like they don't know what to do with him until it's time to drop the bomb about Jon.

I'm assuming he will be a huge player in the end game but he just...hasn't really done much yet.
