Game of Thrones will never touch M*A*S*H and Cheers.

I'm pretty sure it's objectively one of the best shows ever, whether someone personally likes it or not. But maybe I'm wrong.

It objectively is an achievement in scope and in adapting a sprawling series of novels.

Not sure people will ever agree on what is good vs bad.

I'm with you though. I don't know how this doesn't qualify as great. It is peak TV

Considering HBO has made most of TVs best dramas, that isn't saying much. Also, it is a top five HBO drama.

Idk I don't remember exactly how it's set up but I remember being pretty devastated and shocked

Game of Thrones is easily one of the top 5 shows HBO has ever produced, if not top 3. Sopranos and Wire are the only two shows I think you can make an actual argument for being better. But please feel free to try to convince me that Carnivale or Treme are better.

The last episode and the overall show itself post season 4 is getting ripped to shreds in the asoiaf subreddit.

Also, this show is one of the best shows of all time, objectively. Nobody will agree on good or bad, but most well done/ executed show as a whole I think this deserves to be up there.

Deadwood is absolutely up there with the other two (for the record, I agree GoT is top 5 HBO).

I've been trying to read the second book for like 2 years now. Also, I can't stand Gilly's voice

There's a significant gap in quality from something like Mad Men, Twin Peaks, or the Sopranos to Game of Thrones.

Just to be clear while reading the last three or four pages of this thread I've come to the conclusion that people think the show hasn't said Jon is a Targ. Also that "casual" viewers of the show(i.e.: non book readers) wouldn't pick up on it. I would have thought this as well except for my rewatch of last season.

They literally pan up to a current Jon after the flashback where Ned is holding him. They pretty much confirmed it there. They're not winking anymore.

Also I love this whole season. Yes they are going very fast. Yes capturing a white walker seems stupid/dangerous.

I haven't had any problems with the traveling except for the fact Davvos/Tyrion just eased on into King's Landing. A capital city of a land being invaded by a Queen whom is at an island very close to said capital. You would think they would have people patrolling constantly.

did anyone else love Sansa's line about not everyone being as patient as Ghost waiting for Jon to return?

also, I totally understand "casual" fans not catching all of the Jon/Targ stuff. just like R+L went right over Sam's head, if it's not something you're already thinking about, you're not going to pick up on the significance of this stuff. the only person in the show who even has any inkling that Jon is not Ned's son is Bran.

    so does HBO...

If we're comparing HBO's whole back catalog to Netflix's, HBO probably wins due primarily to having far more content due to having been doing things for a lot longer. But over the last few years, Netflix has been had the better content.

  23. Despite the flimsy reasoning for Jon and company to go beyond the wall, I'm very excited to see the group fight off some undead corpses.

I'd be bummed to see any of them die (and some certainly will). Thoros has a good humor about him, and who doesn't love Beric's flaming sword?

Yeah I consider the fact the Lyanna is his mother to be confirmed by the show and I've even gone as far as to explain that to some friends who didn't make the connection. The father hasn't been revealed on the show though. It's funny that HBO confirmed it all with their character relationship graphic last season.
