It feels surreal that we have this lineup going beyond the wall right now. The Hound, Thoros, Beric, Jon, Tormund, Jorah, Gendry.... Holy hell. Such a random collection of people.

To add to the posts above - I don't understand how you have a handful of the best strategists in the world come up with this "plan" of capturing a wight, but they never even discuss the logistics of it. How do they plan on actually capturing one among the millions of wights and the White Walkers? How are they going to get it all the way to King's Landing without it decomposing (or even considering that a possibility)? And also, they aren't even the slightest bit sure that they can get into King's Landing OR trusting Cersei to even hear them out.

Seems like they just jumped on the first plan anybody tossed out.

That part was definitely rushed. But at the same time I do get it. If you can't convince Cersei (and Dany for that matter) then they can't convince their armies. When their armies cast their doubt, you can't have Cersei and Dany share those doubts. Jaime and Bronn aren't going beyond the wall either. Pretty much no other option for Cersei honestly.

Also there's a team lugging something behind them. I imagine they capture one alive and put it in a cage.

However. I do love the Cersei is getting strategic and considering an "alliance". Should be interesting to see what she has up her sleeve. And Littlefinger plot lines are always annoying in the best possible way. It's the behind the scenes stuff like that that really sets the show apart for me still.

Out of all the claims the Targs might be the strongest as they were the ones to unite Westeros. Aegon I was the first Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.

I get the premise of what they're trying to do, but it's not exactly like grabbing a chicken. haha. The rest of the chickens are not trying to kill you....oh, and there's not 40,000 of them, they're not indestructible without using fire, and they're not being led by a bunch of White Walkers lol

I guess I mean that they didn't try to gameplan at all. They're just going to try to grab one and run, but I don't see how it even seems possible to them to escape from that many of the wights.

Well you've clearly never had to catch a chicken.

Maybe Jorah will die in battle and they'll throw his body in a cage so he's reanimated as a wight in captivity. That way it's even more tragic and creates a personal stake for Dany to join the war against the Night King.

This is actually exactly what I was thinking. The plan is really not a smart one albeit a seemingly necessary one for them to advance, but I think they'll quickly realise that the difficulty of the plan outweighs their needs, and this could end up being the "compromise" and outcome.

That's actually possible and would be awesome.

I think that Cersei's baby is a ruse to manipulate Jaime, and once he finds out, it will be the tipping point.

But my buddies and I also discussed the possibility of Cersei dying in childbirth/miscarriage, so that she never has more than 3 children and her *techinically little brother-son* is what kills her.

Lukewarm take: this show's writers aren't very good at crafting original storylines. They're great at set pieces, and strong adapters of existing source material. But they're strapped to this blockbuster hype+money train with GOT becoming one of the biggest shows on TV. The amount of ground they've covered in five episodes could've been two seasons in the past, with plenty of great storytelling in the transitional moments. The problem is that the budgets are too big and the salaries too high for the main actors.

It's thrilling to watch this barrel towards a conclusion, and on the whole I've enjoyed everything so far. But it's a whole different show now that we're past the books. It feels more like reading SparkNotes than enjoying a novel.

I assume that given the accelerated timeframe, Cersei will give birth in the season finale.

Love this idea but zero chance it happens. Maybe Thoros or Beric.

I just don't understand why they cut the seasons from 10 episodes to 7 if there's still so much left to accomplish. Why are they rushing this? So many ridiculous scene's coming at you one after the other this week with no time to breathe

So much fan service trying to be done as well (and quite horribly in my opinion) that really just sunk this episode for me. They're trying so hard to appease the fans and are hitting the fast forward button at the same time.

And to got from Jamie sinking in the water to ending up on the complete opposite side of the river was just on another level for me

Idk, even in the post episode breakdown with D&D they seem somewhat unsure in some of their comments. Stood out to me when they discussed both the wight capture plan and Davos seeking out Gendry in flea bottom. Seemed like "well I guess that would work" or "well what can we have Davos do?"

They backed themselves into a corner with the Gendry one. They wanted to save a buck in season three but using the same actor and it bit them in the ass now. Kind of. It was still a fun scene.

One other thing is I've heard rumblings of a rift between HBO and GRRM. I know he hasn't finished the books but I also feel like he would enough of an outline on story arcs to give D&D all they need to wrap this thing up in a satisfying way.
