More thoughts...lol at Bronn laughing at "Dickon"....also before he shot Drogon it was basically Jaws "smile you son of a" except he said "cmon you fucker" lol

Also loved Davos saying "fewer"...awesome call back

The money was paying off her debts which Tycho mentioned in the last episode. The conversation in this episode was about her needing their further/additional support to expand her armies and navy, ships, supplies etc. to which Tycho said she'd have it - if she paid more money basically ("...when the gold arrives"). Guessing that is what will have got scuppered as a plan following the ol' battle and the gold being a part of the devastation.

I'm also fairly convinced it was Bronn that saved Jaime, it looked more like his armour in the water and also Dickon saved Jaime once in the battle already, would make sense for someone else to save him in a way.

Previews look good... Jon face-to-face with a dragon combined with the episode name - seems to hint at his heritage storyline fast tracking some more? Also looks like we get to see Tormund again in another potentially big battle?

Did we see that? Didn't Cersei say that Jaime was personally overseeing the transportation?

And as far as backing her future endeavors, Tyco was going to back her for those - once he received payment on the debt the Iron Bank was owed. If the gold was already on Kings Landing, he would have already had it.

  5. we saw tarly say the gold made it into kings landing. Then there was an exchange about them being at the back of the train and flogging stragglers.

I didn't realize that Danaerys's comment about Jon's people survival being more important than his pride is a call back to what he said to Mance Rayder:

I thought they showed the carriage of gold going up in flames towards the end of the battle. The horses were running off on the horizon and Jamie looked at it as it disappeared?

I re-watched the episode just now and the scene with Tycho from last episode: previous debt paid off, gold to get further support for expanding armies etc. from the bank - not arrived. That's what may have gone up in flames.

One of the future endeavors is The Golden Company, which Qyburn is off to try and recruit/employ right? Those additional 10,000 troops will surely help her cause.

    • Point of Clarification: So in case you missed it, Randyll Tarly tells Jaime that the gold from Highgarden has already made it into King’s Landing, so it is the food—and not the gold—that Drogon burns in the attack. It’s a “blink and you miss it” bit of exposition, but it means that one of the two forms of cargo did arrive to its destination. Just not the one that would allow King’s Landing to survive a blockade (or winter).

I understand destroying the food as a strategy to take out Cersei, but with the impending Winter, wouldn't you want to try to keep that food for yourself and your armies? Like, great now Cersei can't feed her army but...neither can we.

I have never shipped something as hard as Jon/Daeny. Actually, idk if I've ever shipped anything. Actually, I hate myself for using the term "ship". Perfect ep though, glad I held out from watching the leak. Every ep I watch ends with me going "that was awesome... but now there's only x eps left" :(

Y'all acting like Dany was thinking about this. She was pissed and riding a dragon. That's it. It's worked for her for years, however she should finally learn the lesson after said dragon was shot that that strategy isn't enough anymore.

This is a major victory for Dany. But if she doesn't learn from in major ways, it's also a clear indicator of her downfall. Her pride and brash arrogance isn't far from Cersei's in a lot of ways. The show has set them up as opposites, but that's not entirely the case. This battle can change that.

However, Tyrion's (I believe, or was it Jon?) warning that Westerosi won't take too kind to seeing people destroyed by dragonfire will also hurt her cause.

I'm so curious as to where Martin's narrative is going to differ and deviate from the television series at this point.

Aunt or not, I just don't care about Jon and Dany. Bring back Daario.

Not a lot of romance in the series. I am somewhat invested in Arya/Gendry though haha.

Attacking the caravan actually shows that she listened to Jon. She was going to attack King's Landig straight up but I guess she took his advice.

I can't believe how much I rooted for the Lannisters in that episode. I guess my love for Tywin still carries on.

loved that quick moment between dany and missandei as well, little moments that show that these characters are also regular people too that like to gossip about sex and shit.

I still find myself rooting for Jaime even though he pushed a kid out of a window and bangs his sister. I really don't know why.
