What a great episode. I was worried after last week, but this was one of the better episodes of the show in any season.
All the Tyrell bannermen went before Cersei like last episode. Makes sense their army disappeared after Tarly switched sides.
Yeah but all of their bannermen switched side, so that was most of their support. The Tyrells were known for having one of the weaker armies. Thats why everything happened ao quick. "Did we fight well?" "Uh, as well as could be expected." "It was never our forte. Golden roses indeed."
Can someone explain what Melisandre was talking about with Varys with "I'm meant to die in this strange country, same as you" Cause it seemed like she was revealing something but I didn't really get it
I'm hoping Mel returns for a moment of badassery in the war with the walkers in the final season ; maybe she'll make a flame wall or some shit.
For me, she needs to either have that moment of badassery or have some epic death. She can't simply casually survive or get killed off. I need something dramatic for her.
Unless I'm missing something, it seems like there's some sort of prophecy with how he will die that was foretold by the Lord of Light. The other Red Priestess in the show said something to him as well that really frightened him (when she was alluding to what he saw/heard from the flames when he was younger). Somehow they know something dark about him and his fate from the Lord of Light, but I don't believe we know what that is. Varys is obviously aware of it, though.
I think she's going to Essos to bring back Gendry. No idea what role he would play, but I think he's the only character we're concerned with that could be on that side of the sea (he started rowing in Dragonstone, doubt he'd be rowing over to Westeros so Essos is the only logical destination).
If he goes back to Westeros he isn't safe. Cersei wants him dead for being one of Robert's bastards and some crazy red priestess wants to sacrifice him. He'd want to get as far as humanly possible away from there.
I just don't think we'll ever see Gendry again, unless I missed something. But I also think he'd be best going into hiding at Oldtown with the Maesters where none of the great houses have much sway and not in Essos where Red Priests/Priestesses are common.
He doesn't know how to swim or row a boat and you expect me to think he's crossing an ocean in that thing? Gendry has no reason to be included in the plot, though he's showing back up. That means he is either in Winterfell or King's Landing.
A quick google says Gendry is coming back along with one site that's vehement that people are just misidentifying Podrick, haha. But I spend most of the off season avoiding spoilers and shooting stills for the show so it doesn't surprise me that I missed it. Kinda makes sense to me that last living Baratheon would make a re-appearance considering where we are in the show. Most of the focus is on the eight major houses (or final destruction of two of them in this season now)
I definitely wouldn't doubt that. haha. It would be nice for him to make a short reappearance to have some closure with Arya, but other than that, he doesn't have much of a purpose. He could help the heroes I guess since a lot of the show now has a theme of "don't repeat the mistakes of your father".
The actor who played Gendry was at the premier and there's pictures of him in costume, but yeah, he and Pod look similar enough I'd believe it otherwise. Definitely. It would be very fitting in this world for the only ones left at the end to be bastards and orphans.
He may have learned how to rework Valyrian steel, his master Tobho Mott is the one that turned Ice into two new swords.
