Goes to show the annoyance in editing of that final scene that I couldn't tell who was who then I guess - I had the same qualms with it but overall still really enjoyed the episode.
Anyone else notice in the battle last night that someone's tongue was getting cut off? I didn't know what that was about until I did a little research on it. It's in the books, but it turns out, the crew on Euron's ship consists of men Euron has spared during other battles. He has their tongues cut off so they can't talk back or try to mutiny against him. I wonder if they will touch base on that this season.
the solution is obviously a federalized empire under dany where all the kings can still call themselves kings but actually have varying levels of autonomy under Empress Dany
I am very curious how Arya handles herself when she sees Little Finger with Sansa. I forget if Arya knew it was him who helped screw over Ned, but she certainly knows him from her time with Tywin. If she sees him influencing Sansa, which can easily happen, Arya will be pissed.
Yeah I mean i know everyone keeps saying it's too obvious to happen, but Tyrion proposing a marriage alliance to one or both of them seems pretty likely at this point. Whether they actually end up married by the end of the series is a different story...
The episode titles are often very clever. Yes, they seem to often most obviously be about Dany but they usually also tie in to a few other characters as well.
Jon and Dany's alliance is born from the current storm and Euron became who he is after sailing off and encountering heavy storms that wrecked his crew.
I love a consistent theme of the show is "let's see how we can make Sam's story arc more disgusting each week"
The shot of him digging into Jorah's skin while transitioning into someone digging into a pie....that was the closest I've been to puking while watching a tv show.
I'd honestly love Arya killing Littlefinger. Especially if she finds out about the whole Ramsay thing. She has to confront her list at some point and realize she has to move on from killing them off, but I think we get one more death from it. And I think the Hound will be the one where she realizes she can move on from that sole ambition. Idk.
She wouldn't kill him. She recognizes that she doesn't hate him, and she didn't kill him when she had the chance
Am I alone in thinking this episode seems to be at least one of potentially all the remaining eps that feels like it's cobbling together stuff that would otherwise occur over several more seasons/books? And some of it seems like fan service or something? Feels kinda weird, like they are rushing to the end and everything is just...happening. I get that season 7 and 8 combined are like one slightly longer final season, so there's gonna be a lot of closure/loose ends being tied, but it was all like BAM, tensions between Dany and Varys addressed, BAM John gets the note to meet Dany, BAM Arya learns that Jon took the north and can meet up with him, Sam starts potentially curing Jorah's stone men disease, the subplot of the feelings between Grey Worm and Missandei comes to a shocking conclusion, Ayra finally runs into Nymeria, etc. I was expecting Gendry to row into frame at any moment. Not a complaint, really, just an observation. Makes me wonder how much material from GRRM they are working from and how similar or different the remaining books will be if they're ever finished.
I was talking to my brother about this the other day. I think it is because, like you mentioned, the show is coming to a close. There's still a ton of stuff that needs to happen, yet we only have eleven episodes left, so we can't really dwell in really slow paced episodes anymore. That doesn't mean that it'll necessarily be battles and thousands of deaths each episode (see: Dragonstone), but it does mean that things are going to be happening quickly.
