I don't know if any of you has seen these before, but this guy has been making them after each episode for awhile and they're hilarious tl;dw Game of Thrones Season 7, Episode 1: Guess Who's Back
noah syndergaard is making a cameo appearance later this season as well as a lanister solider, i wonder if he'll get the same treatment.
Doubtful, Ed Sheeran being as worldwide famous as he is, is going to attract more reactions both good and bad and a lot stronger. Had to look up who that guy is and I'd assume a lot of people outside of USA would too.
I honestly thought that about the painted map when I saw that scene. Like damn why are you standing on it while he's painting?
"i went to the cersei lanister school of blowing up your enemies, you went to the ned stark school of getting killed" fantastic lmao
honestly wouldn't have known it was him if one of my friends hadn't pointed him out not as subtle as how they used Sigur Ros or Mastodon in the show but whatevs
I get it, but I don't care enough to dwell on it. But my thoughts, funnily enough, were sort of summed up in that imgur gallery quite nicely. He's one of the biggest stars worldwide who is known as "Ed Sheeran". He's not an actor who's had many roles and this is a neat cameo within his field, or him taking on another acting role as part of his profession, he's purposefully been added in a stuck-out-like-a-sore-thumb way with a dreadful nod to his music via a cheesy line ("it's a new one") in a way that has no other outcome for the viewer from the show/world itself other than: "We know who this is. You know who this is. Isn't it weird that he's that massive, that he permeates into here - a fantasy realm - as well, rite?!" It was just not necessary in how it was done. Previous appearances by non-actors were handled in a way that integrated them into the world and the scene, where as this felt like a horrible "WINK" moment. It was all a step away from him looking at the camera and smirking when he said "it's a new one". That being said, it's not what I thought about most during the episode and won't be something I care about as the next episode arrives. It was just executed badly.
I also read somewhere that the reason they asked him to cameo is because Maise Williams is a huge fan of his so they wanted to bring him on for her.
Yeah read that too, which is sweet. It just could have been executed so much better. But hey ho, onwards.
To my knowledge there's no valid reason to hate him. Just the typical "He's popular, I don't like his music" bs. I didn't 'hate' him in the scene, it was just kind of distracting because I was like "hey that's Ed Sheeran!"
I guess...I read he got reamed on Twitter about his appearance in the show, didn't know if he did something to deserve it?
I mean I explained my thoughts about three posts up re: that. As for outside of GoT, yeah as the other person said: he's one of the biggest artists in the world, he's gonna therefore attract both ends of the spectrum in terms of attention and it will be a lot louder and stronger than it would for someone less internationally famous.
That was my feeling as well...'oh THAT'S why he has such a good voice...it's Ed Sheeran!' Past that I didn't think much of it.
