Yeah I really wish the show just expanded. Season or 2 so they could have done legit versions of Dorne and Iron Islands
I just wish the showrunners were better writers. I dislike a lot of changes they made regarding dissolving the grey area and there are some decisions that just baffle me. Like the Reek reveal. The Reek reveal was so good in the books it still astounded me even though I knew what was happening.
Martin's Euron comments don't surprise me, he's kind of a lazy character in the book, the only interesting thing about him is that Victarion (and Aeron to some extent) exists and the conflict between them. Like even logistically in the show, they made a point that Euron is building a thousand ships but we know that Dany lands on Westeros in ep. 1 so unless they kill him off in a big sea battle then I don't really see why he's even needed later on.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Jon and Dany both die at the end of the series to save everyone else. Many of the songs in Westeros are about dead heroes (Rains of Castamere notwithstanding), and this is the song of ice and fire... may be just me, though. Arya, Sansa, and Brienne are my "please survive to the end" characters.
There's like three layers of villains in this show. The primary end-game villain is the Night King, the secondary villains are the Lannisters (Cersei and Tywin, really), and then there's the third level villains (Ramsey, Euron, and Joffrey - although he kind of fits into the Lannister category, too).
Tywin being a villain is exactly why I dislike the showrunners. Davos, Sansa, Brienne, Yara, and Tyrion are the five I want to see survive the most. I think Jon and Dany could both go though. The story about the Lord of Light is mainly why I think this.
Dead predictions: Littlefinger, Cersei, Jaime, Bronn, Qyburn, The Hound, Beric, Thoros, Jorah, and likely Grey Worm. The Starks will regain control of the north. Some way Jon is gonna meet with Dany after she's in Dragonstone. They'll team up to defeat Cersei and their allies, with Dorne playing a part in the defeat. At some point the Greyjoy's will fight and end with Euron dying immediately after killing one of the siblings. Once everything has settled, Bran will arrive with the holy shit news for everybody, but with no time cause the army of ice cubes is coming. Davos will survive to serve whoever is left. So will Tyron. Few things I'm in up in the air about: -Dany and Jon accidentally hooking up before finding out the truth. -Jon not exactly being dead, but being just "something else" by the end of the series. -Jaime killing Cersei. -Dany's dragons not surviving. -Jorah's greyscale situation. -Melisandre's part to come. Edit: -Whether or not Varys will do anything besides hold his hands together before the end of the show.
These are pretty damn close to my thoughts as well, except I think at this point, more of those people will probably make it until the final season, but who knows. One thing I'm also curious about is if they'll show some explanation for the significance of Dragonglass/Valyrian steel...or at least how those things came to be and how they got their magical powers.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau on Saying Goodbye to ‘Game of Thrones’ *estimated at more than 150,000 deaths since its inception.
Going to a show tomorrow night, so hopefully the annual HBO Now clusterfuck crash will be fixed by the time I get home.
