Dorne was stupid. Everything else was great.

That's not what I'm saying. Just because Oberyn was a favorite doesn't mean the Dorne plot should automatically be a favorite too. What I'm saying is that people were very much interested in going to Dorne and checking in on the Dornish/Sand Snakes after what we got from Oberyn in season four.

Also, we haven't really seen any of Dorne, just the Water Gardens, which goes back to one of my first posts on this subject.

Look, I think everything they've done in Dorne so far has been a pretty big failure. My point was just to say that people did care about Dorne at one point. It's on the writers/showrunners that we all pretty much stopped caring after our first interactions there.

 

Yeah we are getting Euron right? Maybe even Victarian and or Aeron. Should be good.

 

All I know is that the Sand Snakes (besides the gratuity in the jail) was probably the lamest/corniest thing this show has done so far. To me, that was Xena level cringe.

 

Do you mean their presence in general?

I'm hoping their story has more to offer. However, if it turns out that killing Doran and Aero was there the only reason they were included in the show, then that's frustrating.

 

Yea, it just felt so "90's ancient times" if that makes sense; something that would fit into Hercules or Xena. I didn't mind looking at them, though, and I think that was the point, but their acting wasn't anywhere near the caliber of just about everyone else.

 

I'm one of the few people who didn't like any of the Dorne plotlines in the books, so I have no real problem with anything they've done... I just don't think they've done anything worthwhile (yet), which seems to line up with the rest of you guys.

I thought the first episode did a great job on setting up everyone's story for the season.

Glad that no one truly knows what's going to happen, but I may avoid this thread because some of you people have great theories ha!

 

The Vanishing Dog Hypothesis could be a Big Bang Theory episode title based on them watching the episode.

I agree with you. There's a lot of negativity on forums like these where people just complain over the silliest things. It's ridiculous. Can't believe people actually think that way.

 

Gotta assume that she will be adding those Dothraki to her army and sailing west by season's end. Fingers crossed.

Yeah I think dragons can be very persuasive.

 

Complaining about Dorne isn't silly. Its horrible writing, the fight choreography has been a joke, and the characters are one dimensional. They should be criticized for it, especially given the fact they have great source material they could have easily borrowed from.

And pointing out the missing dogs isn't complaining. Nobody even said it was bothersome. The only complaining related to the dogs have been from people like you who think Game of Thrones is some kind of untouchable television where the only discussion should be praise.

 

I think he's saying he wants discussion about the actual storylines and where they're going, not that he wants that discussion to be praise of the show....just sayin.

It seems like David and DB know that Dorne is eventually going to be Dany's first and most prominent ally in Westeros, and tried to figure out a way to get Dorne to the point where they're completely split from the Iron Throne so that it makes sense that they back Dany when she gets there. And they seemed to want to do that as quickly as possible, which is a bummer. The show is so popular and HBO is so willing to put money into it, they could have easily made this a full 8 or 9 season show to flesh out Dorne more. I guess maybe they thought they'd lose people/interest in trying to set up an entire storyline like that, but still. The way they got us there was slightly below mediocre AT BEST lol.

 

So we'd go with Danny having back and forths with Tyrion to having back and forths with the Sand Snakes, eeesh.

 

There is no compelling reason for Dany to hook up with Dorne now. She would have better luck with the Greyjoys. I could easily see Euron sending Asha to win Dany's favor only to have Asha turn around and pledge their fleet to her if she roots out Euron.

 

I think that's what is going to end up happening, especially now that her ships have burned down. The first shot we got of Yara in the trailers where she is kissing the girl doesn't look like it's in Westeros based off the coloring and the outfits of the people in the background.

 

I was thinking maybe she ends up down there but Dany's ships burning "confirmed" that for me.

 

Yeah, based off this it looks like she's stopping in Volantis or some other place but I would assume she's headed to Meereen.

 

Dorne is still going to align themselves with her. And of course there's a reason--they have an army, one of the few untouched by the War of Five Kings.
