It's all political and marketing. HBO pushes Emmy advertising for Kit and Emilia because they're faces of the show. The Emmys are basically advertising. None of it matters. I'm sorry, I feel like I've said that a lot (I think another thread or two I've mentioned how the Emmys are complete nonsense), but really, truly, they do not matter/speak to anything besides a hopefully fun awards show and hopefully nice people getting some public, high profile recognition, but even that's a stretch. The Emmys/Award shows are dumb.
you guys realize that the Emmy nomination process takes one demo reel form one episode right? So, like, Kit submitted Battle of the Bastards I'm sure in which he has a lot of screen time and some really strong acting performance. And Emilia submitted the episode with the speech on the Dragon's back probably, which is a strong single submission for her and although Sophie was probably better in the summation of the season, Emilia won out for that one episode
I hope that isn't what Clarke submitted. But yeah, it's more about popularity and that hurts a lot of ensemble casts. It makes sense for stuff with smaller casts and a clear cut lead but shows like Game of Thrones and LOST often push the popular people, See: The lack of Emmy's on Henry Ian Cusick and Daniel Dae Kim's shelves.
She's not a main cast member so she doesn't qualify. I don't believe they have released the guest actors yet but Lyanna and Olena both should be on it. Honestly they were stronger than most of the main cast this season.
Tbh I don't think Clarke is a very good actress at all. Masie is fine but not worth a nom. Give Headey all the emmys tho
This was definitely Kit's season, and he did great. High Sparrow should've gotten a supporting nom (do emmys have supporting actor/actress categories?). He killed it in every scene he was in. Sansa should've got the best actress nom.
Sophie Turner was far and away the best actor/actress on the entire show this season for me. So disappointed she didn't get a nomination, even if awards don't mean all that much in the end. Hope Maisie wins, though.
Idk Ramsay is too one note for him to be nominated imo. @ the convo last page. Would have loved for the actor who played sir Davvos.
Emmy's are always a year late on shit. GOT got best drama for it's worst season. Kit did great work over seasons 3-5, and he was pretty good this season but maybe not as strong. Sophie will get her turn next year.
Kit is not a particularly good or interesting actor, at least not in this role. He functions fine and that's it
Not shocking but this is the first official confirmation by HBO: S7 is seven episodes, airing next summer. GAME OF THRONES TO BEGIN PRODUCTION ON SEASON SEVEN THIS SUMMER — HBO & Cinemax PR
I guess to make up for that, they're releasing the Season 6 box set earlier than usual. It'll be out November 15th, a list of bonus features are at the link.
