Three pages of dogs and I'm sitting here wondering what the fuck happened to Trystane.

The mention of the dogs was necessary to get Sansa and Theon crossing the river as a setpiece and clearly plummeted as a storytelling priority once the action with Brienne kicked in. It's not a plothole if the plot continues meaningfully without it being fully resolved, sure it can raise a question but it's ultimately so inconsequential to what's happening it's completely reasonable to just let it go.

Yeah the whole Dorne thing sucked but I think the reality is they just have way too many storylines and in the end there just wouldn't be enough time to fit in the Martells. Especially when you consider that they are going to be adding new and revisiting/bringing back older characters, there's just no time. Sucks they had to give them the axe like that though. Areo Hotah is supposed to be one of the best fighters in the world and he dies like that.

Its completely reasonable to let it go, I agree. However, I don't know of any meaning of plothole that requires it to disrupt the plot to the point that it can't meaningfully continue. I think it just has to be essential to the plot. If you look at the conflict as the show set it up (admittedly a very narrow "plot", or sub-plot), in order to complete the rescue of Sansa, Brienne and co. had to deal with a number of soldiers and a number of what was purposefully described as dangerous dogs. They struggled through the soldiers and, to an observant viewer, no dogs. I think someone could reasonably assume that dealing with the dogs was essential to the conflict as the show set it up because it seemed that Brienne had to fend off the dogs in some way in order for Sansa to be safe and rid of the current chase, and as such it is a plothole to this story to not address the dogs. But its still completely reasonable to let it go given its very minor importance to the story as a whole. I'd even go as far as to say its unreasonable to not let it go and write about it on a message board as much as I just did.

Haha. That's fair, I just hesitate with "plot hole" being thrown around loosely because it can be too casual, nitpicky, and miss the point of all the other stuff going on. In this instance it's noticeable, but does it get in the way of characterization or the thematics at play? Not at all. It's a minor piece of the action that was introduced, but not addressed, and focusing too much on it is the sort of thing that can detract from more interesting stuff going on. That's a pattern in discussions of movies and TV and books and whatever else that can be frustrating, to me.

  7. the dogs are mathematically irrelevant to the plot unless they ran away to go steal the iron throne. who cares if they made a slight continuity error.

also, Dorne continues to remind me of a bad B-list sci-fi movie.

Sandsnakes in the television show are such a shining example of character assassination by a show of book characters.

  9. Why are people in here flipping out over dissenting opinions? If you don't have anything better to say than "WHO CARES JUST ENJOY THE FUN DRAGON SHOW", maybe just ignore and move on.

I'm very relaxed, it's just a dumb overlook that holds 0 substance to the actual storyline and very obvious solutions were given, yet we're on what the 3rd page of talking about it? I'd much rather talk about Melisandre being a prune all this time.

They are doing their own thing too here, with help from George. If they used the books as the script, this show would require 12 seasons, 1 1/2 hour long episodes, and money beyond the pockets of HBO. Simply understand that characters are not going to be what you imagined in your head from a book reading and you might actually enjoy something. This show is extremely good. Best ever? Probably not. But, the things people are really pissing their pants over are seriously minuscule when you look at other shows that are actually fucking lazy. TWD is a prime time example, and I like that show too but they are so obvious in their missteps it almost seems intentional at times.

Oh my god, who cares about the damn dogs.

I'm more interested in the fact that Dany's ships were burned down and how something from one of the trailers makes more sense now because of it.

I'd like to know what incentive the Red Woman has for resurrecting Jon Snow, if it costs her her life. Did I miss/can't remember something between Stannis' death and her and Ser Davos' sudden interest in Jon Snow?

Danny and the Dothraki part 2 is pretty uninteresting atm, just feels like another unnecessary delay in her adventure to Westeros. Her moments with Tyrion were some of my favorite last season and we won't be getting anymore of that anytime soon, unfortunately.

Yes your tone is above reproach. You have been pretty inflammatory throughout, I've responded in kind. I'm not bemoaning others for having a different opinion than me, saying they are pissing their pants or that they are pessimists who should reflect on their lives.

Sorry. Mine has zero sarcasm and I produce real disputes. Reading people's posts about how professional producers and show runners should do their jobs/completely dismissing story arcs because the characters don't do what they think they should is not only annoying but adds nothing to the forums.

Pretty much come to these threads to see if there are interesting bits I didn't catch, see if there are new announcements, people's positive discussion of shows, etc etc. what do I find? 3 pages of people shitting all over a great show because they didn't execute two dogs on screen. Get real.

The thread is about Game of Thrones, and everything that goes with it. Its not solely about the story line. Telling everyone you don't like what's being discussed and then reiterating that fact with saying you'll revisit the thread later when the topic is through is a definition of "adding nothing to the forums." Your tone has been negative and unwarranted.

I've remained consistent throughout this thread in saying that regardless of character motivations the Dorne stuff simply isn't going to work because of bad dialogue and mediocre acting. Hey, if you think the Sand Snakes are doing a passable job more power to you, I don't, and I find each Dorne scene featuring them tedious.

Contrary to your belief this show isn't near infallible and we are well within our write to critique it however we see fit, whether you agree with it or not. I don't come to threads just to see my opinion validated.
