shocked that it's been all day and nobody has made a thread for this yet? their placement on festival lineups has what it seems like everyone banking on them being absolutely humongous after this record comes out. still so weird to me, i have a bunch of friends that were seeing them in baltimore warehouse shows just a few years back

this song is very poppy

They're from Greenville, NC (same town I went to college). Saw them a few times at some of the biggest house parties in town.

 

Sam was just hanging at the bar at a show I went to last week, haha. And that's pretty regular for him

 

I knew they were still around. Had no idea how popular though.

Can't say I'm too surprised. I played in bands in Greenville at the time (metal and pop punk so a different scene... lots of the same DIY venues/parties though) and I had more than one friend tell me "Future Islands are my favorite local band... sorry, yours is good but they're great". Haha

I don't remember if I ever met any of them but I'm sure our paths crossed at some point in that small college town.

New album out October 9th. It's really good. New song Moonlight tomorrow.

 

Pretty excited. Doesn't sound like they're straying too far from their sound on the last few albums but I'm still absolutely here for it.
