I really disagree with the idea that Future needs to change his sound or flows. His flow is iconic and it's the most refined it's been on the self titled Can't believe how hard yall try to deny his talent :(
my problem is that in the one listen i had i feel he didn't expand on the really forward and ambitious things he did on EVOL especially with his voice. songs like lie to me are just unreal vocally
I really disagree that this is the "most refined" Future project, I actually think it's one of his weaker efforts. It's still fairly decent, it just doesn't offer anything particularly memorable or ambitious. It almost feels like a b-side album at times tbh. I'm not "denying his talent", if anything I'm doing the opposite. I think he's capable of more than this, as he's demonstrated time and time again on his previous albums/mixtapes.
It always bugs me when people say this, because that would inevitably leave out tracks that are bound to be favorites for some people. This way, it's all there and if people choose to cut it down and make one album out of it, that's their prerogative.
Typically I'd agree with @The Lucky Moose, BUT we'll have to wait and see what the record on Friday sounds like. Personally I don't think there was a lot of throwaway on FUTURE. I could see cutting it down to 12-14 tracks, but assuming that HNDRXX isn't full of subpar material, I can't see cutting this whole project in half.
Maybe you should listen to Pluto because Lie To Me is the closest he's sounded to that album in ages. At least the beat is.
I would have bet that at least one of "Used To This," "Buy Love," and "My Peak" would be on here. Interesting.
anyone??? is me ??? stop talking about me and talk to me ??? I came to that conclusion bc i'm in a room full of white dudes talking about a Black artist leave me alone and stop sleeping on this album TIFFANY TIFFANY WE GOIN SHOPPIN AT TIFFANY
With all due respect, you don't know anything about me, so you can keep your fantasies regarding why I don't think this album is Future's best work to yourself. Just a few weeks ago I was clowned by people in the album of the year thread for suggesting that Lemonade is better than whatever creatively bankrupt indie rock albums they put on their lists instead of Lemonade, so I really don't need these kinds of dumb accusations from anyone on this board. If you want to continue whatever this is you can message me because I am done with this thread.
I think the idea that Future could branch out more in new directions with his sound is believing very deeply in his talent and ability to make great music. He has proven time and time again that he can turn any top shelf trap beats into a compelling song so why not be more ambitious? He doesn't need to be Kendrick Lamar. It would just be really fun to see how far he can push himself.
