I do feel he has tried to switch up his style. EVOL imo had a lot of variation. Lie To Me, Ain't No Time, Low Life etc had a different feel than his previous work. There are tracks on here which someone mentioned that have a more "chill" vibe than trying to go for straight bangers. Which I appreciate.
Man.. I can't get down with that review. The only song that sounds like a rehash is Massage in my Room, which kinda sounds like Real Sisters on the chorus.
The review isn't referring to specific melodies, but his sound in general on this album. It's saying that it mostly treads familiar ground and doesn't offer any progression.
Yeah I get that. I'm just saying the only time I feel like he's treading familiar ground is on that song.
Well it sounds to me like you're just referring to his lyrics and themes on the album and that's not really what I mean. An artist like Future is about a lot more than just the words he's saying; it's how he says them, how his adlibs play into that, the mood he creates with the help of his producers, the way he rides a beat. So I guess if you're listening to Future to hear him speak on the same type of stuff, say, Kendrick Lamar talks about then we're just listening to him for different reasons. But if you're saying he's said all of this before using the same flows over the same beats, I can't agree with that.
I'm referring to his sound on this project as a whole- production choices, the mood, vocal style, etc. Nothing on here strikes me as being particularly novel for Future, he's done this whole sound before, and fwiw, he's done it better imo. I do like this album btw, I'm just not blown away by it.
Yeah I'm just not seeing it. To each their own, I'm finding a lot to love on here that sounds fresh and unlike anything he's done.
Eh I doubt this although a second album is definitely coming this year. Hope I'm wrong tho and it drops Friday
They're saying that cuz he himself said on the Zane Lowe interview that the album was called Future Hendrix So the rumor going around is that it's a two part album, the first part was called Future and the second part is called Hendrix
No expectations that it'll drop but I'll be excited if it does. Especially if it's radio jams. And especially especially if that Chance track is on it.
