i’m at 5/10 but mostly because i’ve never listened to the other 5. excited to discover more new music!!!
Guessing this week's five announcements are tomorrow. Currently trying to plan out the rest of my vacation days this year and it's hard not knowing if I need to keep two set aside for this or not. Facebook memories showed me that they released the 2022 line-up this week the other day.
I’m wearing my FF ‘21 crew neck sweater at Bilmuri tonight and four people have come to ask me if I’m going this year. Makes me love this festival a bit more just to give this region something special.
I will say these are bands 11-15 out of 80+ but they are obviously announcing small acts first, which is never a great optic for people on the fence.
it’s so funny because i feel so much more excited after 3 drops (even before the final couple names on drop3) this year than i was last year. last year it was a bunch of “this is cool but not something i really actively listen to” on a lot of them. this year, i am excited about drain, big ass truck, citizen, johnny booth, tony danza, and i kinda love that the focus is a lot more modern overall so far. but i also looked back on last year’s announcements and i get that the names are a lot more iconic (underoath, poison the well, shai hulud, stretch arm strong, snap case, unearth, skycamefalling, evergreen terrace, coalesce, etc. i def understand being underwhelmed if that’s the general stuff you were hoping for.
Drain is probably the biggest name announced so far and at most they are a shed headliner. Zao is either middle of the day, or 3rd to last 2nd to last in the shed.
On Broken Wings in the shed LFG if you guys haven’t seen on broken wings with this lineup the last year or so, they are insane and sound amazing live now.
I have no doubt that come the final 90 band full line up, there would probably be 25 bands I would love to see. It’s also kinda wild the first fifteen bands announced are all misses for me (I haven’t checked them all out yet) after the sort of run they went on in 21-24. I keep thinking that the headliners will probably be Spiritbox, Knocked Loose, and then a more “legacy” choice. But I have no grounds for these thoughts.
Fingers crossed it’s all bands I like and no bands I hate. I’d like to go this year after planning for 2020.
In light of today's news... do we think FF would book them? There's already rumors of Riot and Best Friends Forever potentially being in play now, which made me think of it.
