I wonder if they're going to lean into any certains genre over one another this year - I still feel like 2021 had the best mix overall across the target demographic, between nostalgia and active bands.
I feel like if ERRA is gonna play Drift in full at any point for its tenth anniversary it would be here since the band is from Birmingham.
A City of Evil play though would unironically rule. They could lean into some metalcore nostalgia and it not be a bridge too far. Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Unearth, etc. I think some of those bands have played previous years.
My friend Charles who used to play drums for Better Off was the graphic designer before for FF. Truly one of the most talented people I’ve met in that world. This rebrand looks so washed
How soon are we thinking the lineup will drop? They said "soon," but that's also what they said about making any announcement months ago.
Hmm. I can see why people might be excited, but this seems to have lost a lot of the personality that made FF feel different than any other festival.
Well, shit. ADTR, Circa, UO, Chiodos, Cartel, Emery, The Almost, GamiGang, Koyo on Saturday almost want me to make a day of it. With the exception of Norma Jean and Sleeping Giant, can skip Sunday, though. You can tell they tried very hard to maintain the brand, but also, uh... lost the spirit of the festival a bit.
Yep plus 95 percent of these bands tour all of the time. There’s nothing unique about this lineup at all. It’s like a mini Danny Wimmer festival.
Yeah, they tour all the time. But coming from a minor market where those tours don't often hit, there's a smidge more convenience appeal than anything.
Other than count your blessings set and like sleeping giant, it’s a little too “like every other fest”
with this festival, I always wonder if I'm too young or too old to have never heard of half of the bands. Saturday is pretty sick, Sunday is whatevs (for me)
If the Underoath DTGL tour package is hidden in there, I wonder what it is. That'll be a deciding factor, for sure. Because that's one of the main tours I've been looking forward to this year.
Ticket page says re-entry "until 6pm." That's new and kills one of the best features of this particular fest. I'll probably go Saturday just for Circa (but also excited for Origami Angel, Ben Quad, Chiodos, Underoath)
Also, are there any bands here that no one has ever heard of? I had a theory that Scoggins would debut a new band here since he is shutting down 68, but alluded to continuing to make music. And he seems to enjoy this fest, playing The Chariot songs the 2 times 68 played.
I think largely cause it’s turning furnace fest into “just another fest” a large part of it is the vibe and community, the mixing of genres. You aren’t getting that this time, and the community will certainly not be the same with slaughter to prevail, and emmure on the lineup. It’s just a small scale DWP fest now.
