I only went in 2021 but these were probably my favorites then too, it was my first time seeing Emery & I felt like I'd wasted that last previous 15 years of my life. Best Mayday set I've ever seen too
1) He Is Legend 2) The Beautiful Mistake 3) Misery Signals 4) Haste The Day 5) Noise Ratchet/Shai Hulud (tie) honorable mention: both Josh Scogin surprises of Teach and Memphis
It’s tough! I could probably do a top ten so many bands I saw just crushed it! 1. Bury Your Dead (Absolute chaos in the shed and last show) 2. Evergreen Terrace 3. Misery Signals (again just chaos) 4. Poison The Well 5. Comeback Kid 6. No Cure/Orthodox Split 7. Eighteen Visions 8. Delta Hate 9. Snapcase 10. He is Legend
Favorites this year (In no particular order): Emery Poison The Well The Beautiful Mistake Evergreen Terrace One Step Closer Underoath Coheed & Cambria (encore only)
https://www.metalsucks.net/2024/10/...transphobic-joke-at-furnace-fest-performance/ I was there, the singer was talking for awhile saying some really stupid shit and people started leaving (including me and my group). That offensive "joke" was one of many. It was wild hearing people talking about how offensive it was and a minute later hearing people talk about how pissed they were that Evergreen terrace cancelled that festival because of Kyle Rittenhouse and that the government wants to take their guns.
Michael Cera Palin - bassist was so fun to watch He is Legend - I Am Hollywood pit Better Lovers - Feeling the heat of the flames above my head and walking out smelling like fuel The Fall of Troy - Donovan singing on FCP LS Dunes - noodle guy meme creation Saosin - lighting the stage with only cell phones 68 - crowd push for The Chariot Drug Church - surfing people all the way out of the shed The Early November - Ace summoning a train during Ever So Sweet Norma Jean - Scoggins Underoath - getting on stage for Writing on the Walls
Drug Church kinda stole the day for me on sunday. Saw them on a whim and was blown away, cant stop listening since. Underoath, '68, Anxious, Norma Jean were other highlights
This is what happened with me and Drug Church last time they played Furnace Fest. That was on the pond stage though, and the shed was even better.
Favorites of this year were: Misery Signals He is Legend Drug Church Five Iron Saosin Honorable mentions to Blindside, Better Lovers, Prada (Loved that they leaned into the nostalgia and were just pretty fun and jovial), and Silverstein. Also shoutout to the lady at the beer tent for making fun of me for wearing a Jimmy Eat World shirt. She was like, "I love that band, but you kind of look like you were drug here to a metal festival by some friends and wore the one band shirt you got back in college."
That's pretty funny because when I go to shows I try to wear the merch of the band most different from the bands I am going to see.
I haven't been able to find toooo much good footage on YouTube compared to past years but holy shit the scogin/norma jean footage looks UNREAL. Would've loved to see TDWP, misery signals, norma jean, the beautiful mistake, silverstein, from a second story window.....those are just the ones off the top of my head.
So, what is the plan moving forward? Are they still planning on doing a Furnace Fest-style festival but with a different name/brand, or are they 100% done with doing an October festival at Sloss now?
Mike Ziemer said that this is it as far as they know because its's so expensive to put on as independent promoters. He also said So What isnt coming back next year either and he solely owns that one. He does say that he hopes they might bring it back one day tho.
so popular belief at the fest this weekend with people that should have said knowledge, is that sloss seems done, the plan was for four years, the length of the original. And that the sloss people really didn’t want it back, but people do think they are gonna end up doing something somewhere in the spirit of this but they imagine on a much smaller scale.
I read it, he is an older guy, I took it on face value. Seems like he does legit need to look inside and make sure he is informed. It was a shitty joke, but at the end of the day I hope he learned his lesson and is willing to do the work.
I know this is a hot take on a forum that started as a blink 182 fan forum, but I’ve never understood the edgelord humor on stage, ESPECIALLY in the form of rehearsed bits.
