Any tips on where to park? I didn't get a pass. 3 years ago I parked somewhere downtown but I don't remember where it was.
How early did you arrive? I plan on maybe try to find parking like maybe an hour before opening, then going by foot to find breakfast and then go in.
I would usually get there between 11:30 and 12 most days. You should be fine with that plan. There’s a bunch of food places along that stretch.
i’m fine with it. i’ve never seen this band and they have a dope discography, so the fact that they aren’t too focused on one specific record makes me happy. but if they had 30 more minutes and used them on more trainwreck? i’d be very in for that, of course.
4 days till i fly out. Way too pumped. Diving into I Am Hollywood for the first time as well super late to the game. Only jazzing me up more. Anyone have any idea on the FF exclusive vinyl?
In 2021 when they opened their set/the main stage out of the gate with I Am Hollywood was absolutely nuts. I saw people sprinting to the stage from so many food stalls.
Same! It was the first time I ever got to see them after missing tours for 17 years. Extremely cathartic.
Anyone know for sure that Birmingham is alright after this hurricane? I’ve seen that Pensacola, fort Walton beach, mobile, Huntsville all got hit pretty good, and Birmingham is kinda in the middle of all that?
Huntsville’s fine, it was pretty normal rain with high winds. I’d assume it was about the same in Birmingham.
I haven't seen anything about Birmingham. I know it veered further east once coming on shore than they expected, so things ended up pretty okay here in Knoxville (and instead Asheville got what they thought we would), so I think Birmingham is probably also fine?
Microdosing Furnace Fest this fall instead of going to the fest* *Seeing Saosin on Tuesday, and Better Lovers, Full of Hell and Underoath in November
We’re totally fine. Nothing more than wind, never even really rained that hard. Only cause for concern would be the routes through Tennessee/Georgia having flooded or damaged roads.
Most of the album playthroughs are total hits for me (Coheed, 18V, Underoath, Blindside, Saosin) but HIL and Emery have me slightly bummed, because IAH is borderline my least favorite album of theirs, and I’m a huge Suck Out the Poison fan, but I’m sure they’ll tear it up regardless. My favorite Emery album is ISSWS, and I don’t really care for The Weak’s End. I’ve never seen either of them, so happy to check them off my list, but wish it was a more varied set, even though I understand why they’re doing it at FF.
Gonna start doing some album playthroughs: I Am Hollywood holds up well. There's a lot of guitar/bass work that has zero business being as good as it is here. Definitely more excited to see that one live now that I've listened again. Listened to Saosin - Self Titled yesterday, and it is still a peak album for that version of post-hardcore. I don't think there is a record that combines the unique qualities of that genre (metal riffing with soaring emo vocals) with as good of hooks. Perfect album.
I know it’s the week of, but I’m making the difficult decision to cancel my trip out :/ some financial hardships just make it impossible for me to go. Hope yall have a blast and please go a little extra hard for me.
I still haven’t bought my tickets yet if anyone knows anyone selling. I’m a little timid of picking up secondhand but could potentially trust someone here if we go through proper verification channels.
Not sure if it helps but yesterday I was looking in StubHub and it was like $135 for all 3 days. It's a ridiculous price, very worth getting. I think StubHub also has a guarantee that if you get scammed you will still be let in the event.
