Got here in time for relient k, Norma Jean and Anberlin. Good enough for me! NJ ripped, and Garrett, they did play End of all things!
I was in there! I’m at Anberlin and then I’m going to the hotel. I need more energy to make it to Turnstile tomorrow.
I’m asking this as someone who hasn’t had the pleasure of going to furnace fest yet (planning next year) but I saw someone complain that they couldn’t get in the shed for With Blood Comes Cleansing or Norma Jean? I’ve seen people say similar in past years? If you sell tickets shouldn’t people be able to get into to see anyone they want?
Shed holds about 3,000 people, supposedly. So if a really popular band is playing (or in the case of 2021, any band was playing) and you didn’t get in between sets, you can’t really see. That being said, you can hear that band very easily.
This doesn’t really make sense. It’s crowded, but if you want to filter towards the front, you definitely can, like any concert. I came in farther about halfway through and could easily see, but granted I’m 6’3
Shed was not even that crowded for Norma Jean. I'm wondering if it will fill up more tomorrow just based on how they sold tickets this year with Friday originally being a limited event before they opened it back up to a full day.
Today ripped. Having the option of the shed at any given time to get out of the heat was a godsend. Favorite sets today were Vein, Walls of Jericho, Braid, and Mxpx. Braid especially really surprised me with how tight they sounded. It was nice running into Garrett too! Tomorrow I'm wearing a black shirt that says Remember When Robocop Shot that Dude in the Dick and white shorts, and seeing the following bands: 1240-110 Mindforce 125-155 Zulu 210-245 Drain 250-330 High Vis 445-520 Militarie Gun 545-635 Trash Talk 650-730 Terror 750-835 Youth of Today 855-940 Gorilla Biscuits 945-1055 Turnstile
Definitely feel like yesterday was the least attended day of the three years I’ve come thus far. Gonna be in a mewithoutYou farewell tour shirt today. (Maybe Mindforce and Zulu, depending on my energy levels) Become the Archetype - 2:00-2:35 (Maybe the last songs of Drain) High Vis - 2:50-3:30 partials of Gel, Sparta, MSPaint Militarie Gun - 4:45-5:20 Scowl for a few Saosin - 5:50-6:45 Thursday - 7:05-8:00 Turnstile - 9:45-10:55 If you didn’t try those Hawaiian noodles yesterday, highly recommend them. Surprisingly tasty and filling.
I gotta be honest with you, if you have the ability to see Mindforce in a barrier-less set up you need to see them. They tore this is hardcore apart. One of the best sets I’ve ever seen.
So I’m living vicariously through all of you this weekend. So bummed I’m not there. So at my job my assistant manager is devout Jewish so during Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah he practices and follows the “can’t do any work” days of rest and celebration. So like he also takes a day or two leading up to it off to cook meals, clean the house, run errands etc. Furnace fest the last three years has been during one of those holidays. But I’ve decided come hell or high water I’m gonna find a way there next year.
As a practicing Jew… feel all of this, haha. I’ve got Monday off work and will be starting my fast tomorrow evening, haha. It’s been a lot easier with the other dates not being YK.
At least they're on the main stage this year. The shed was definitely packed for their set a couple years ago.
Welp, got my days mixed up and booked a hotel saturday -> sunday vs friday -> saturday. Thankfully, was able to find one ten more minutes down the road, we love calling hotels at midnight. Mindforce, Zulu, Drain, Gel, MSPAINT, Militarie Gun, Scowl, then I'm skedaddling back home. White shirt, VG shorts, tube socks, preds hat.
Yeah seeing the shed for NJ, I can’t imagine Turnstile fits in there anymore. Main stage seems great for them, you can hear and see from pretty far away.
Got shaded parking for the second day in a row. Three blocks closer. It’s the little things. Now only if they found some more of the free non alcoholic beer because that was tasty af
