Saw this over the weekend in imax. Was loud as fuck in some parts, maybe even too loud. Only real negative I have is way they handled the whole 40 day war part, so silly to me. But I still loved watching this. Dont think it stands strong on its own but as a continuation of the universe its a great addition. All the freaky little guys in this rocked. Hemsworth was a fun dysfunctional antagonist. Anya killed it here with what little dialogue she had and the child actor from the first half was just as good in her roll. The whole opening sequence with Furiosa's mother chasing her to/from the camp was incredible stuff. Also thought Praetorian Jack was a nice addition even though he pretty much plays a version of Max in this. Sad to see this isn't doing numbers
For some reason I thought this character was played by Cobie Smulders but apparently it's not the case lol
Miller was trying to do what The Wachowskis were doing with The Matrix in 2003. Makes sense considering the timeline of how long it took to get Fury Road off the ground.
He’s also got the giant fucked up foot that’s usually shown but I caught one shot where it was covered
Just saw this a second time and everything I had issues with the first time went away on second viewing besides the romance between Furiosa and Jack (doesn’t fully feel earned). I think the pacing is perfect. I like that they don’t spend much time on the 40 day war as that’s not the purpose of the movie. The movie is Furiosa’s story. It’s now just slightly behind Fury Road for me but could possibly pass it with further viewings. Also the CGI didn’t bother me as much either.
watched Fury Road last night and I remembered it was released when 3D was a thing cuz the steering wheel flies right at the camera at the end.
he’s only got one nipple out in this, and he’s driving his sick car most of the time in Fury Road, but when he’s not, he’s got both out and both are being tweaked.
There’s a bit of an old school vs new school action movie conflict at the center. Furiosa is a stoic, old school action hero. In the vein of Clint Eastwood or Toshiro Mifune. Dementus is a quippy blowhard ripped straight out of the MCU right down to Chris Hemsworth’s perfect casting. One of these is obviously cooler and that one prevails.
I hate to say this, but i just didnt enjoy this much at all. I dont think it added much, or was a story worth telling, and while some of the action was awesome, other scenes looked absolutely terrible from a CGI perspective, like really low budget. All the chase / car scenes were also so telegraphed its almost like you could see the stunt coordinators in the car tapping the people to signal their move was up and a lot of almost pausing for a blow, just didnt look real. Chris Hemsworth was okay, but i wouldnt even say that was worth all the rave and hype. I saw fury road twice and its a 10/10 and this was a 6 at best, maybe could be a 7 on rewatch if i find more to like. Overall one of the biggest dissapointments in a minute for me. Also others have said the opposite, but i dont see anything in ATJ that looks like a young Charlize, like not even close at all. She acted fine and maybe im the face blind one, but no for me.
