As much as Lucas killed it with FFAF, I think he should still keep Holding Absence as his priority. Such an incredible band, would hate to see them put everything on hold. Maybe it could just be a live thing?
Cause of the World we live in, I think it all boils down to what will make Lucas the most money. In an ideal world, he could do both FFAF and Holding Absence duties, and he probably will imo but yeah. It's not like he's the first vocalist to front 2 bands at the same time, right?
I don't see him leaving Holding Absence but if they ever do get him on some new music I'd be very interested to hear it. His vocals are so good.
He sounds incredible and you can tell he's ecstatic to perform with them! Fingers crossed he records with them eventually.
I've heard Holding Absence's albums but haven't revisited those after the debut enough to say I'm familiar with their work overall. I should change that. That said, I remember hearing some FFAF vibes on that ripper of a song from the new one
The Greatest Mistake of My Life is just hit after hit, but I like their newest as well. I actually think I've forgotten to check out their debut.
The newest Holding Absence record is so good, probably the best Rock/Post-Hardcore mix I've heard in quite a while...and man Lucas sings so good live. Holding Absence's stuff is a much higher register vocal wise, so it's not surprising to me that he absolutely hit those FFAF songs out of the park - I'm jealous of everyone who got to see this version of FFAF live! I saw FFAF in 2023 as an opener for Parkway Drive and I'm glad that I got to see that version with Matt for one last time (even though his voice was awful). Looking forward to new FFAF songs with Lucas on vocal duties, really hope that happens - and I hope they mix melodic singing with huge riffs like they did in the past. But I also would very much like for Holding Absence to keep touring like they have, this is a very conflicing situation, one of my favorite bands from the past could cannibalize one of my current favorite bands :P
Yeah it'll probably depend on his availability and how much it would impact Holding Absence's ongoing momentum. I guess if Anthony Green can split his time between a hundred projects, to varying success, maybe Lucas can as well... though Anthony's case isn't the norm lol
I just missed that because I was still making my way over from the stage where Charlie had just finished playing with Busted. He must've gone straight there.
My initial thought reading the above was that Busted must be massively out of place on the Download line up but I’ve just checked it out and they’re actually not. When did Download become the new 00s Leeds / Reading festival!?
They've begun pivoting this year mostly, now that they've realised they have no choice but to diversify if they don't want to downsize their festival in the future.
I went down to see how it was looking when Wheatus started and it was already overflowing then. We could hear well enough outside to sing along to Teenage Dirtbag. Then just enough filed out for me to make it in for Busted. But plenty didn't. Best crowd atmosphere of the day honestly.
so it seems like they definitely want Lucas on the new stuff. Hopefully he can find the time and inspiration to do that as well as Holding Absence, it would be very cool to have him working in two bands at once.
somehow missed that they were going to be recording new stuff without Matt. not sure how I feel about that, though I do think he’s been the weakest part of the band since Tales.
Matt's voice has been shot for years and looked like he was phoning it in on the last tour so honestly I am glad he left the band, hopefully the new lead singer whomever it is will give the band an new leash of life both creatively and live.
There have been issues with their streaming catalogue for the past month or so. Half of their discography is missing in my country as well.
Wonder if that means Lucas is officially in the band and we’ll get new music before these dates. edit: Reading captions is hard
so im here for some FFAF recs, i love CD&DIC and hours, i didn't love TDTT, and i haven't heard the next four albums because i fell off back in the day since CDs were expensive and now i can stream everything, am i missing anything with those later albums? is there one that's really good? are their select tracks i could check out from each? let me know if you are familiar with the later albums. thx!
