This video randomly popped up on YouTube earlier and I can actually remember this coming on the TV in the UK haha.

Damn, there’s no denying though that Matt was the weakest link in the band from their most recent era of live shows. Hopefully they get someone who can do the songs justice as he will be hard to replace especially from a view of when he was in his prime.

  7. Yeah despite his decline performance wise, I was still looking forward to eventual new music with him so I’m stunned by this announcement. The guy from Holding Absence is a good replacement for the time being. If his band wasn’t this active, I’d say he’d be a good fit. Hoping everything works out and their new material won’t feel too weird without Matt.

  8. Another thought that just popped up is they could finally let Gavin sing more, even if it’ll feel like his and Rich’s old band Hondo Maclean again.

Yeah, definitely shocking. Matt in his prime was such a good vocalist live. He always killed it. Somewhere post WHA saw a rapid decline in what he could do live though.

Looking forward to see what they do next.

I would definitely listen to an album with Gavin on vox especially if it sounded like the Your History stuff

Does anyone know why Welcome Home Armageddon isn't on Spotify? Was in the mood to listen to that album earlier but I guess I won't now lol

I see it, but I'm in the USA, so I don't know if Immortal is elsewhere?

  14. Welcome Home Armageddon hasn't been available for at least a couple years in my country, same for Memory & Humanity and Your History Is Mine.

oh yeah it hasn't been on Spotify in Poland for a few years too, which sucks. Hope they'll bring it back. Also, huge blow for me to have missed their shows with Dashboard Confessional. Seen them 5/6 times in my life, bet it will be somewhat weird without Matt. Such a great person, I wish him all the best!

here's a cool fact I just found, they changed the running order for Tales before release to what they thought flowed better. Matt posted the original narrative story/order recently, it goes like this:

    One for the Road
Rise and Fall (Japan bonus track)
    The Diary
    Raise the Sail
    Open Water
    Out of Reach
    Walk Away
    On a Wire
    The Great Wide Open
    Sweetest Wave
    Into Oblivion

That’s cool. Just made that playlist to try out maybe tomorrow. Haven’t listened to Rise and Fall in maybe 13 years.

Interesting that the first track was originally intended to be the last.

it does work pretty well in both spots. I mean lyrically it's obviously about the sailor coming home finally but as an opener it plays as an overture type thing for the whole concept really well

energy wise it just feels right there and with Sweetest Wave last imo, other than that I actually think I prefer the narrative order. Rise and Fall is too good to get b-sided

I always thought Into Oblivion was oddly placed as the lyrics pointed to the character coming home and it’s generally the most positive song on there.

dunno if it's that new tracklist or what but I've been obsessed with Tales lately. woke up with the hook to The Diary in my head like the past four days in a row, I'm not mad about it

Great song, one of the best on there I'd say.
