The Day Star Approaches, You Know What It Brings

Since everyone’s been putting up their yearly concert lists lately, and since anniversary tours for albums have become so popular in recent years, I thought it would be cool for us to share our lists of just those kinds of shows!

I’ve included what bands, what albums they performed (individually), and how many times I saw them play it (cumulatively). Doesn’t have to be an ‘anniversary tour’ if you ended up just seeing them play all the songs from a particular release, and it doesn’t have to be the ‘full album’ if the shows were mostly centered around those albums (like The Early November’s and hellogoodbye’s 2017 tours.)

    In mostly chronological order...

Showbread - "No Sir, Nihilism is Not Practical"
Saves the Day - “Through Being Cool”
Say Anything - "Say Anything is a Real Boy"
Motion City Soundtrack - "Commit This to Memory"
    Cartel - "Chroma"
    Mae - "The Everglow"
Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties - "We Don't Have Each Other” (x2)
Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties - “Bittersweet” (x2)
Cute is What We Aim For - "The Same Blood Rush with a New Touch"
    Failure - "Fantastic Planet"
    Yellowcard - "Ocean Avenue" (x2)
This Will Destroy You - "Young Mountain”
This Will Destroy You - “This Will Destroy You”
The Early November - “The Mother, the Mechanic, and the Path”
    Set Your Goals - "Mutiny!"
Anti-Flag - “Die for the Government”
Reel Big Fish - "Turn the Radio Off!”
Alesana - "On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax"
Simple Plan - "No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls"
New Found Glory - "Sticks and Stones” (x2)
    New Found Glory - “Catalyst"
    U2 - "The Joshua Tree”
Third Eye Blind - "Third Eye Blind"
Four Year Strong - “Rise or Die Trying”
hellogoodbye - “Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!”
hellogoodbye - “Would It Kill You?”
New Found Glory - “New Found Glory”
    Say Anything - “Say Anything”
Say Anything - “In Defense of the Genre”
Mike Doughty (of Soul Coughing) - “Irresistible Bliss”
I Set My Friends on Fire - “You Can’t Spell Slaughter Without Laughter”
    William Ryan Key - “Thirteen”
Goo Goo Dolls - “Dizzy Up the Girl”
    Eve 6 - “Eve 6”
Justin Courtney Pierre - “In the Drink”
    Tenacious D - “Post-Apocalypto”
Silverstein - “When Broken is Easily Fixed”
William Ryan Key - “Virtue” (x2)
The Movielife - “The Movielife Has a Gambling Problem”
The Movielife - “Forty Hour Train Back to Penn”

I’d also love to see folks post their lists of farewell (or pre-breakup) and reunion tours they’ve attended. Bring ‘em on!

I don't think I've been to that many, but these are what I can recall:

My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade Tour (2007 - Denver)
Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends 10 Tour (2012 3x - Lincoln, Kansas, Denver)
    The Academy Is - Almost Here (2016 2x - Chicago & Milwaukee)
Simple Plan - No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls (2017 3x - Atlanta, Denver, Vegas)

And then I guess I can add Taking Back Sunday - Where You Want To Be & Louder Now this coming Spring. I've been to other shows where all the songs from an album were played, just not necessarily in order (Good Charlotte played every track off The Young & The Hopeless on their 2003 tour, and Panic! at the Disco played all the tracks off Fever on both of their 2006 tours). I'm sure there's others, but I can't think of any more at the moment.

Whatever happened to good ol' KITB? I've been wondering for quite some time. Met him at a Simple Plan show in Chicago a couple years back.

The Day Star Approaches, You Know What It Brings

Well, what can I say? It was over two years ago.

Pretty sure he got banned. Guess he didn’t come back under another moniker, which I thought somebody mentioned he did at least once before.

In any case, my farewell tours...

    The Chariot
Polar Bear Club (announced breakup after this tour)
    Goodtime Boys (same)
You, Me, and Everyone We Know (same again)
    Fireworks
    Motion City Soundtrack
Weatherbox (‘Farewell for Now’ Show - even though they’re technically back together, this is still to date their Final Show)
letlive. (announced breakup afterward, I think I might’ve been at their last US headliner)
    Showbread (Final Show)
Yellowcard (x4, including The Final Show)
Vanna (announced breakup afterwards, still counting this even though they did a mini-farewell tour after this)

I think the only ‘real’ reunion I ever attended was for Set Your Goals...
