One of my most highly anticipated this year. No shortage of wacky or wonderful with these singles so far.
On the first couple listens its promising. Doesn't grab me as much as One Day did but there are some great moments.
This band has such a deep discography that it's easy to get lost in it all. I'm only now introducing myself to Year of the Horse and WOW.
revisited some of their early work lately and liked it way more than even the first time. need to get around to this
I’m too lazy to make another thread but they just released another full length Someday and it’s very good. Shockingly little of Damian’s vocals on it
Digging in now, so much going on in some of these tunes, reminds me of Broken Social Scene almost. I read earlier there's four "Day" records being released while they work on another new, separate epic: One Day, Another Day, Someday and what I assume will be named "Today" based on some lyrics on this and the phrasing of their IG post.
Someday is really good, and also really interesting/weird. SO many tracks with guest singers, feels like a bunch of different bands on one album to be honest, one track sounds like it has Bethany from Best Coast but I haven't checked on that
Two songs with High Vis’ Graham Sayle and one with Fiddlehead/Have Heart’s Pat Flynn. They also tapped Max Williams of UK hardcore band Rifle (whose 2023 EP was produced by Fucked Up’s Jonah Falco), Julianna Riolino, and the band’s Year Of The Horse collaborator Tuka Mohammed.
there’s only two guest singers listed in the liner notes (Tuka Mohammed on I Took My Mom to Sleep and Julianna Roillino on In The Company of Sisters) nvm I guess that was just for lead vocals, not features
Yeah I found that the band's bandcamp page breaks it down the best. Lists features on the track titles and then the credits below list the lead vocals
