I’m level 41 and at the academy of raya lucaria, I think one of the story bosses is supposed to be here right? all I’ve come across is that red fox thing

 

I was +8 before the Radahn fight but it was taking too long to get his bar down so I upgraded.

 

Yeah there's one there. There's a staircase on the right after you come out of the fox room.

The thing that I suck at is judging when a move can be parried. Like, how the fuck are you supposed to tell?

Yeah I haven’t tried a single party since I learned about guard counters.

 

I always strike first lol.

 

my problem is I rarely run with my shield in my offhand but even when I do guarding still knocks off a chunk of damage depending on the attack. Also I’ll do the counter attack and their next attack will happen too quickly for me to get the counter off. But I tend to counter with strong attack which has a longer wind up time so maybe I should try countering with rb

 

You let the enemy do their move and then attack when they finish. That or you lock onto them and then circle them until you can get a back stab in. Bosses? All bets are off.

 

I’m getting used to the input queue and not just mashing buttons and trying to cancel an attack or something since you can’t

 

Is there anything more to backstab than just attacking from behind? I feel like my attacks when I crouch up on someone aren’t really all that more powerful.

 

They should be. Also, the Talisman that refills your health when you do it is nice.

 

you should see a unique animation that does a ton of damage

 

Yeah backstabs take a while to get used to, I used to suck at prompting them and now I just know where to go, what first helped was lining up my right shoulder with the center of the enemies back, bang you got em.

Ok then I am clearly just attacking from behind and not backstabbing. I haven’t seen any prompts for a special type of attack when I creep up. Gonna hit the YouTubes to learn the art.
