GOT HIM


Finished the DLC at level 181 with about 25 hours played. Overall it lived up to the base game experience and built on it in meaningful ways from world design to boss design it was everything that made the base game great and then some. The more linear exploration paths worked much better for me than some of the huge open spaces which still existed but for the most part you were moving through each space looking for ways through to the next space and somewhere like shadow keep has like ten different ways in and out which is classic fromsoft design. boss fights started out on par with the base games end game but quickly step things up but never felt out of the realm of possibility and I’d say really only Messmer and Radahn caused me any problems. I have seen a lot of complaints that the new incantations are just weak damage wise which I’ve definitely noticed which is nuts since some require huge amounts of faith to even use and wind up doing less damage than the first black flame incant you get. the only new weapon I messed with was the great hammer which I did like but I mostly used marikas hammer the whole DLC aside from here and there where I’d pull out malikeths black blade (which I used on the final boss) or siluias tear with magma wyrm’s scalesword thrown in here and there for fun. I’m excited to run NG+ on this character and do the DLC again but after replaying the whole game again in June and playing the DLC I think it’s gonna be a while before I touch this game again. Like, many many years

 

Shadow Keep Church District is so fucking cool. Classic From intricate level design

 

Also I think ishin the sword saint was harder than DLC final boss

 

Oh I absolutely believe that

 

Oh yeah and I managed to track down enough fragments to hit +17 but I have no idea which ones I missed because according to the map I found I hit them all

 

it's them at their peak, this whole DLC map is really

 

My only beef is the finger shrines are huuuuuge spaces with very little to do except blow the horn compared to other real estate that’s so packed with life and variety. Unbelievable DLC though, I’m taking my time through it!

His first phase gave me so much trouble. Just immediately flys to you and tracks you throughout

 

It’s insane how much harder his first phase is than his second phase

 

I caved and respec’d so I could Rivers of Blood Messmer and it took me 3 tries. The 2nd phase is so insane with the camera I was just rolling and preying the snake didn’t grab me lol.

 

I was way overpowered for Mesmer :(

 

I feel like that is how I am going to be

 

Messmer is a blast best fight 10/10

 

yeah messmer is easily the best fight of the DLC and possibly the entire game (maliketh and malenia are still my top two i think but god messmer rounds out the top 3 for sure)

 

Messmer tops everyone except Malenia for me yeah

 

also i always say his name the way the voice actor does when you die mESSmer

 

Soooooooo yeah Scadutree Avatar really cool boss fight

 

Honestly was not all agreeing with the criticism the dlc being too hard. Have had a pretty easy go except for Messmer. However Scadutree Avatar is pretty lame and I’m mad currently so obviously I’ll change my tune but I’m on attempt 10

 

I think my biggest complaint is the boss arena itself. I lost my 30K runes cuz I couldn’t find them and it blends in with the environment. Also for some reason my mini map goes away during the fight?

 

Well…..I got him. I’m still mad but I appreciate this thread for always letting me post through it and eventually clearing bosses lol

 

i dont go into a boss arena unless im willing to lose the runes on me, having to grab them before every attempt makes it much harder to focus

 

I was dumb and summoned before I went near that area and acquired a bunch of runes along the way. Then when I found the nearby boss grace I couldn’t rest cuz I still had my finger on.
