Posted earlier about starting a bunch of level 1 runs on 4 different games. Still very early but this has made it so clear to me that Dark Souls 1 is my favourite From game. It just feels so comfortable to play for me. I know its much clunkier than most of their other games but its still a precise clunkiness. Also think it is without question the best map theyve made.
From the beginning my character that’s stuck on four kings is a wash I totally fucked up and used all the estus flask upgrade items not knowing you had to turn them in
If you never made it to the DLC, you should definitely go back. A few of my favourite bosses in the series.
My priority right now is getting shadow of the erdtree and then it’s finishing bloodborne. After that I’d like to replay Sekiro and dark souls 3 and play demons souls remake but yeah I know I need to start dark souls 1 from scratch and try it again
Am now at the final boss, attack power and summon power at max, I have got all my buffs, I am using rune arcs for the first time ever (lol), lets fucking go!!! Wish me lu...Ahh! I'm dead already...
Yeah...I am not doing this within 200 tries at this rate. Love the first phase but the second is just so punishing I do not see a way past it atm!
I felt pretty good going into the last boss after absolutely slaughtering Bayle and now I feel like I need to go grind for another 20 hours lol. Getting absolutely stomped every time. I did swap to the guard boost talisman and that helped a bunch for keeping my stamina up during phase 1, though.
I’ve heard there are some builds that can take on that final boss much better than other builds which is kinda weak design if only certain builds can stand a chance against the final boss of a game where build freedom is the entire point. but anyway great shield builds are supposedly pretty good against him
Im so slow with this game. With probably 30-35 hrs in, I haven't even gotten around to Messmer yet and with everything I'm hearing about the final boss Im glad I'm taking my sweet time and leveling/collecting scadus. Still exploring all over the place, facing most of the side bosses I can. even ended up taking some time away from the DLC to get through the Haligtree and most of Farum Azula to get rid of my frenzied flame (and ngl I needed the Beast Champion Set because fashion). The new sleep talisman + sleep pots and a fully upgraded winged scythe (really any slash weapon) absolutely breaks the Godskin Duo fight. I was killing them so fast I had to wait for both to spawn in multiple times. Wild that this fight was a wall for me on my first playthrough.
I think it’s about the same as any other boss as far as that discrepancy between builds goes, considering the wild things the final boss has been beaten by. It’s just absurd to learn because the enormous amount of light firing everywhere
The spoiler part = the worst part about the fight IMO. My rough plan now is to try to get through the first phase summonless, then summon Mimic Tear right at the start of phase 2 and use it as a distraction to try and land a few Ancient Dragon Lightning Strikes. Using the summon right from the start has not been good as it is usually dead quite quickly in phase 2. I see myself giving up on this strat within 10 tries... Edit: Yeah fuck that. Getting very frustrated now
Done, and I am not ashamed to admit I summoned in 2x other players to help me do it either!!! That second phase was legit not fun, got him to around 10% of his health once after 50-60 tries - I am a good player (not great by any means, but still...), however that genuinely felt beyond my capabilities without a re-spec. It was telling that both the guys that helped me had the bull-goat armor set + fingerprint shield combo. Ahh well, still a 10/10 DLC!
So far I’m not really bothered by how empty some of this map is but I am very bothered that many of the rewards for going out of your way are mid smithing stones or sombers I have infinite of
Yeah. I feel like they wanted to load you up with stones to try out new weapons which I respect, but I do wish there were more weird lore secrets and stuff
yeah but also im such a high level and the scadutree fragments offer more progression than levels now that i have tons of extra runes to toss around anyway so i really do have a nearly unlimited supply of stones
