starting my eventual DLC character this weekend. so fucking excited to play Elden Ring again I’ve done some randomizer/coop runs with a friend but craving the real shit
Just finished playing Zelda over the last months so I'm definitely ready to start playing Shadow of the Erdtree without any transition in difficulty whatsoever. Even better I could take the time now to play Sekiro, smooth transition for sure
I’m so close to saying fuck it and just getting the original game and shadow together for ps5 and starting from scratch
I really wanna play the Elden Ring DLC but I have no interest re-treading a world I already spent more than 100h in. Hope steam cloud has my character still.
yeah that’s the problem with games this long sometimes is hard to replay it from scratch no matter how much time passes
If you guys were coming back to Elden Ring after 6-12 months without playing it, what would you do to get back up to speed? I am coming back to a game where I am level 291 (lol) and have finished the story, but have many non-mandatory areas & bosses still available to traverse/fight - I have beaten some easy bosses (Elemer of the Briar, the Magama Wyrm that has Moonveil), but I rocked up to Borealis the Frozen Fog to "kick its ass" and err, you can guess how that went lol. What are some of the tougher areas, or standard enemies, that you guys would use to re-learn the games' mechanics etc.? Thank you
Good bump. I got my physical copy back from my friend just in time to jump back in for a bit before SotE. I never beat/fought Melania lol. Guess I’ll do that. I don’t even know where she is cuz I never encountered her
I’m trying to think of exactly where the area is but down in the sofria river underground there was a huge segment of the map near where you get the mimic ash that I used to grind for runes relentlessly @PandaBear! it’s with the giant rolling boulders you could get a ton of runes and relearn the game
every now and then I see a post so fucking stupid it stops me in my tracks and today it has to do with fromsoft. They later go on to argue GRRM isn’t even a fantasy writer (an insane take on its own). I’m just in awe, not even a huge game of thrones guy but the GRRM influence on the lore is apparent in so many different places, and GRRM and Miyazaki were both in the press thoughtfully describing exactly how the collaboration process took place. 20k likes. Unbelievable.
Yeah Elden Ring sure needed that GRRM hype since everyone still had such a good taste in their mouth from GoT…
Even if it was PR (it probably was) who cares his fingerprints are literally fucking everywhere lol if you can’t see his writing in the elden ring lore you either have no grasp whatsoever on the lore or you have no grasp whatsoever on GRRM’s writing
the worst take I’ve seen that’s a half joke but still really stupid is people saying he couldn’t have contributed because the project got finished. but he’s not the one who had to finish it, he probably was thrilled to just have to come up with a general outline of the world’s history leading up to the events of elden ring and then bounce
Think I am back up to speed with ER now, doing DEX/FAI Samurai using +24 Nagakiba w/ Unsheathe AOW and it felt just like my first playthrough of the game when I ran a similar build - idk why but it feels like the right thing to do to start the DLC with the same approach/same character as my first playthrough. Yadda yadda yadda, this game is true 10/10, one of the all-time greats and it is crazy we get a whole new chapter to experience this month
ive been thinking of abandoning strength faith and doing dex int like my first run for the same reason but i think im gonna stick it out because theres some great strength and/or faith based weapons coming up in caelid and atlus
Got my physical copy back last week and continuing my only build/file. My fai boi. I never encountered Melania nor sought her out when I found out she was optional. Just wanted to focus on the main areas and any optional bosses along the way. Now that I'm getting ready for SotE, I want to take her out beforehand and experience what everyone calls the best boss in the game. Looked up a guide of how to get to her and just skimmed the beginning saying I need to head to the snowfield. I don’t even remember how to get back to there but transported to that general area. Was just exploring and encountered a death rite bird and took it out. Then happened upon a castle I never explored with a walking mausoleum outside of it. Fucking awesome castle. Castle Sol had some really cool items and I took out the boss there Commander Naill. Got to the top and got the half of the medallion I apparently need to get to reach Melania lol. I wasn’t even following the guide I just saw a sick castle I never explored and it looked cool. Based game.
Commander Niall drove me fucking nuts my first playthrough, hate him. And by that I mean I love him; frost + lighting is always so sick. Just hate his 2x summons, I have never beaten him without that flower thing that you can use to make them attack him instead.
