Its literally the first real boss you go to first if you just follow the arrows from the rest stops, so it definitely shoulnd't be the 18th boss you face in the game unless they've done a really poor job designing it. Not to mention I have been able a couple of times to get it down to half health, so I'm sure someone with better skill and my exact same character could beat the thing. And yes, the game is largely open world. But all the other times I've stumbled into a place too hard for me I've been able to run away (maybe after dying) and save all my runes. But that still properly instills the fear of how everything works and makes you cautious. I don't understand why they'd change it up for bosses especially when you have no real way of knowing that you're getting yourself into before facing a boss. Could be an early boss you missed that you're now over leveled for. Or could be a super hard boss that is way out of your league.
In your defense, the game can get confusing for a newcomer as some of the Mini-bosses are behind a fog wall and some aren’t. If you choose to keep playing your mindset should be: fog wall? If you have anymore than 1k Runes, get rid of them.
You know what you’re getting into because of the fog gate. Every boss in the game is still dangerous regardless of your level, the risk is understood
which is kinda my whole point. rest of the game lets you do just this. and adds to the enjoyment because you only get stuck in an area if you wanna get stuck. I don't understand why they can't do the same thing with the bosses.
I dunno, I'm looking at two different walkthroughs and they both suggest a completely different boss order. I feel like this is just a problem of it being an open world game; you have options on how you progress and one guy apparently chose to progress differently than another. So maybe there is no right path.
and in an open world game are they still needed? or does the rest of the game show there is a better way of doing things?
There’s 26 bosses in the first zone (just Limgrave) There’s no reason to rush to the castle without leveling up a good bit.
Just beat Godricks ass after a few tries, getting a front-stab after stunning him felt fuckin GREAT, did it twice.
Mariner fight was a lot of fun. I miss the being able to climb everything and use the entire environment to your advantage of BOTW, but the sheer depth of stuff you can encounter I think probably makes this the best open world experience. The battles in BOTW were fun but definitely lacking a bit in variety though also it’s making me wonder what the Witcher 4 could be
i think most of the thread went Vagabond (as did I) Confessor seems cool, will probably be what I use during a second playthrough (Paladin/Cleric basically) Samurai if you wanna be a stabby boy
I feel like you have no real leg to stand on regarding losing runes when the grace is right outside the door when you reach margit’s fog gate. also may I offer you the traditional welcome of the fandom @clucky: git gud. but in all seriousness runes are so ubiquitous losing them is like whatever.
