Working on Astel, it's a good time. I had such a hard time with Astel on my first playthrough, second time I breezed through, and this time at RL1 it feels very similar to the first. Making good progress though, got to phase 2 last try. I beat Rykard, I really think Rykard is the most overrated boss in Elden Ring. I don't think he's that aesthetically enjoyable and the gimmick is pretty bad, and a lot of the attacks feel badly designed too. I dunno, I just don't find him very enjoyable in any way. Got Niall down as well so I have Haligtree access ahhhhh! Remembrance bosses down: Godrick Rennala Radahn Regal Ancestor Spirit Morgott Rykard Up next: Astel
Yeah Rykard is 100% the lamest boss for sure, only bothered beating him in my first playthrough and will likely never fight him again. Is that the Astel in Consecrated Snowfield? Because I found that fight maybe top 3 most difficult in the game - That opening attack when it fires something at you was one-shotting me with 50-60 levels put into vigor
What!? Rykard is probably my favorite boss fight in the game. Loved the setting/lore/weapon and second phase transformation is so Bloodborne
I actually forgot how much I hate Godrick the Grafted, so he is the lamest boss for me for sure. Radahn is cool, he'd be top 5 for me but likely at No.5; I think I'd go: Placidusax Malenia Mohg Maliketh Radahn I love Morgott as a character more that all those bosses though, however his fight lacks the spectacle of those 5 to me.
It's the Astel after the Lake Of Rot, it was pretty hard but I did get it down eventually so I'm progressing woooo Got up to Fire Giant now and am kinda banging my head against the wall The lore of Rykard and the Volcano Manor is strong, everything else I didn't care for at all though (including the design, I get how it feels Bloodborne but I think Bloodborne already existing and giving us so much better kinda ruins that) and he was extremely boring to fight, I felt like there are better "weapon gimmick" bosses out there but it feels like such a consensus that Rykard was the best one and I don't get that at all. Godrick as a spectacle was really cool but yeah the fight was really boring. Out of remembrance bosses I still have Rykard lower and Fire Giant lower as well. My top 5: Malenia Maliketh Godfrey/Hoarah Loux (mainly Hoarah Loux) Placidusax Mohg
I developed a pretty good Fire Giant strategy for RL1 that wasn't really a cheese but definitely made things less frustrating to deal with. He's down now and that's the first boss in this run that I've cheered upon beating, I'm so grateful to be done with that. Remembrance bosses down: Godrick Rennala Radahn Regal Ancestor Spirit Morgott Rykard Astel Fire Giant Mohg Up next: (EDIT: Mohg went down very fast so) Fortissax
Slowly progressing through Crumbling Farum Azula. It is EXTREMELY hard right now, those beasts are annoying. Did beat Godskin Duo but it was a pain, I think I'm finally switching to light roll soon, especially with Maliketh and Placidusax on the horizon. Being able to finally upgrade my weapons to +24/25 is a lifesaver though and allowed me to beat Fortissax fairly easily. Remembrance bosses down: Godrick Rennala Radahn Regal Ancestor Spirit Morgott Rykard Astel Fire Giant Mohg Fortissax Up next: Placidusax
My greed is getting the best of me, I keep thinking "yes I can fit in a second swing and THEN dodge the lightning" and the answer is no I can't Haven't gotten to the "fly around a bunch" phase yet so THAT will be fun
Placidusax is now dead but I had to commit a sin. I had to ditch my outfit Light roll felt near mandatory so I went with a light roll build finally and took off my Brave Sir Robin outfit. Maybe if the DLC includes being able to re-fight bosses I'll load this character back up and try with a medium load instead. Anyway I think Maliketh is next, either Maliketh or Malenia but right now I'm feeling Maliketh because running through the Haligtree sounds miserable. I've already done a few attempts and I feel like it'll be easier than Placidusax but still very hard. Placidusax is by FAR the hardest time I've had so far. Remembrance bosses down: Godrick Rennala Radahn Regal Ancestor Spirit Morgott Rykard Astel Fire Giant Mohg Fortissax Placidusax Up next: Maliketh
Triple post but I think I'm gonna end my RL1 run, it doesn't feel very fun. There's some fights that become more fun at level 1 but most don't. I feel like while DS3 at level 1 helps you appreciate what makes it awesome, Elden Ring at level 1 kinda highlights a ton of its flaws. I imagine randomizer would do the opposite for each game. Anyway maybe I'll resume it again some other time but I just really wanna play other stuff right now.
