Pretty much sums up how I feel about this fight

 

Placidusax and Maliketh down. Had the tiniest sliver of health when I beat Placidusax. Maliketh’s second phase was intense, he’s so ridiculously fast. Haligtree tomorrow before the final boss run.

 

I’m so excited for armored core, I read so much about it already

It's barely going to have souls like mechanics and it's going to be mission based again, I am very curious how that plays out in 2023.

I am glad they're switching it up, I think Elden Ring gave me everything I'd ever want out of a souls game, doing something that's diametrically opposed to that format is way more exciting to me.

DS3 SL1 run is a ton of fun so far, does a good job simulating the same feeling I had playing my first time and offers one hell of a challenge and I'm still pretty early on. Cleared Crystal Sage, Abyss Watchers, and Deacons of the Deep last night (Deacons was surprisingly difficult on SL1).

 

I already liked Dancer of the Boreal Valley but have even more respect for that boss (and Abyss Watchers) now

 

Sorry to keep bumping with logs of this one run but eh I guess that’s what the thread is for. I ended up beating Dancer yesterday, and Oceiros, Champion, and Pontiff today. Am now staring down either Aldrich or Dragonslayer Armor, not sure which is gonna give me more problems.

It has been an INCREDIBLY fun and at times frustrating run. I’ve had to learn a lot to get past some of these areas and bosses and develop skills I never had on normal playthroughs. I definitely think I couldn’t do this on DS1 or DS2

 

Personally, I like these logs. Couldn't imagine doing a SL1 run in one of these games myself.

 

Beat Aldrich late last night! I was shocked, it's the fastest I've gone from "I might not be capable of doing this" to actually getting a kill. It was the most challenging fight so far, thankfully the run back was a lot less annoying than others like Champion

Honestly a year or two ago I would've never imagined myself doing one, I definitely think it's worth a shot if it's something that interests you and that if I can do it anyone can probably do it haha. I often wonder how Elden Ring will go with an SL1 run, I don't think I'll try that anytime soon but I'm wondering if it'd be a good starting spot for one since there's so much that's optional and such a large weapon variety

 

I am dying to Lorian and Lothric equally as much as I did on my first playthrough. I don't know what it is about this boss but it just destroys me every time. I'm much better at it than I was before, and still get obliterated. Finding windows to recover from mistakes is so hard. I love it.

 

That was definitely the hardest in DS3 for me. I struggled there longer than any other boss.

 

I'm still getting messed up by them, I took a break to go to Archdragon Peak and clear out some stuff there (not Nameless King yet haha) and I'll be going back soon

 

I beat Lorian and Lothric! Had to completely change my play style, went from a medium roll to a light roll setup and put myself in a situation where pretty much anything was a two hit KO (the laser was a one hit KO) and managed to pull it off a lot better with a light roll. Did it while working so no audio cues which was annoying with some of the casting but it managed to work out.

Bosses left: Old Demon King (edit: finished this one real quick), Nameless King, Soul of Cinder, DLC bosses

 

What is SL1?

 

Malenia has been kicking my ass the last two days, I’ve only made it to her second phase twice. Her cutscenes and score gave me chills the first time. She dies tonight.

 

Soul level 1, basically go through the game as a level 1 deprived and clear stuff without leveling, using weapon upgrades and rings and stuff to find different ways to do stuff

I know level ups are very marginal in souls games, but I really can't get over the fact people are trying this. Don't you get one shotted by almost everything?

 

Most things don’t unless they combo you, rings can do a lot of heavy lifting and also a lot of hits do less damage than you’d expect. There are some things that do oneshot but they’re not frequent

I’ve heard Midir is an exception and is a shitshow
