Elden Beast is still pretty bad though even when knowing what to do, it’s a pretty bad fight especially after how cool Radagon is
I beat the game a long time ago, so yes, this is exactly what I did, but that defeats the purpose of having a lock-on system. Having a lock-on system that you have to refrain from using because it is impossible to use properly is bad game design.
eh I dunno. All the soulsbornering? games have enemies that are better off to fight without locking on, never bothered me
I haven't played another Soulsborne game, so I can't comment, but isn't it ultimately not important if you're not bothered by it? A design flaw is sill a design flaw and worth pointing out, even if you can look past it. Also, kind of weirding me out that we’re having this conversation now, and not a month ago, when I made my post.
I wanna ramble about Elden Ring a bit since I did finish it again My second playthrough (fresh character not NG+) was tremendously better than my first. It was so much fun exploring this time around and actually finding everything. I went STR+FAI this time around (vs DEX+INT last time) and the Faith toolkit just feels immensely more fun than the Intelligence toolkit. There are still some fights that feel un-fun (looking at you Elden Beast) and some of the repetition gets annoying of things like the Watchdogs and Crucible Knights, and the repeated Godskin Nobles but I feel like the game does a great job making up for it with the more creative things like Malenia and Maliketh, and the fact that so many of these boss fights you'd dread in Souls games like dragons are so much more fun in Elden Ring. (Fortissax is something I missed on playthrough 1 and I LOVE that fight.) Furthermore, the clone fights I see the most people complain about (Margit and Godfrey) I actually do like a lot. Radahn Festival is still cool as shit. Malenia is still a monstrous encounter albeit tremendously easier this time around (which I think is a good sign). The diversity the game has to offer in builds when you're not running an INT build (which felt way too stale in options) feels incredible and, as I knew from the first time around, the quality of life this game has to offer is fantastic. I still do like Sekiro and DS3 more than Elden Ring for my taste, but I gained a very new love for the game this time around and very much appreciate that this is the future of the "soulsborne" genre. I hope there's still a place for games like Sekiro (I know Wo Long is supposed to be similar and I'm excited for it but it doesn't scratch quite the same itch) but at the same time I welcome the flurry of Elden Ring-like games and content that will come. Still need to try the colosseums since I've been pretty busy the past couple of days
I still haven't done a replay. I've beaten every other soulsborne game like 10 times each, but every time I fire up a new character in ER I immediately get overwhelmed knowing how much shit is ahead of me.
It was lengthy for sure, my entire motivation was the combination of "I wanna use the dragon head things" and "my other character is too overleveled right now for PVP and what if it gets good"
I only finished it once (still played for over 200 hrs) but STR+FAI is my fav build in Elden Ring after I messed around with a few rebuilds in NG+. Was perfect for a Guts build imo. I feel like faith is pretty versatile in this game.
From what I've seen it's at 150, I forget what my other character was at but I stopped this one at 150.
It's so much aesthetically cooler too in terms of options, I wish pyromancies were a bit better but I didn't end up caring that much since they were still cool to use
Decided to put up some co-op signs around Malenia and it is brutal out there, hosts REALLY panic Also did some colosseum, it's pretty fun. I like the game mode options, and it's fun to put people in their place when they try to do something cheesy. I just wish the Leyndell one was a bit more easily accessible, I HAVE to be missing a grace that'd make this easier. Feels like it's a bit of an oversight not to just have graces in the colosseums if there isn't one.
