The sword you get from Yura there is the one I used pretty much my whole playthrough from that point, it is amazing. The length of the blade is absurd so you can stay a bit more out of harms way and still connect with basic attacks, plus you can remove the ash of war it has on it which resets to it's default AOW, Unsheathe! Being able to use that from further away makes it way better than the Uchigatana impo. Oh, and if you hate those things that cast death at you, then you should pay a visit to the minor erdtree that's in those woods, something really awesome there that you will like!
I'm so reluctant to change my weapon at this stage of the game because I've built it up so much, but I'll see what I can do. I think I might be missing some stats for that weapon anyway. I did put Unsheathe on my weapon again, but I'm not really sold on how it will function for me. I'm thinking of trying out Carian Greatsword or Hoarfrost Stomp. They seem more my style. I assume you're talking about the Hardtear for the physick? That is nice, but I hate that I can only use a physick once until I use a Site Of Grace. I wish I could get more uses.
I was big hoarfrost/axe up until I got the moonveil. I miss not having the stomp to cheese my way thru some enemies, but definitely prefer the damage boost from the katana.
Yeah, Moonveil is a bit out of my price range at the moment, unless I respec, which I don't wanna. I think I'll give Hoarfrost a whirl.
the Blasphemous Blade ash of war is basically a cheat code also, the weapon you get from the rememberance of beating the final boss also has an absurd ash of war. If things are weak to holy, you can clear out entire areas in seconds
Player's Log: Okay, after some experimentation, I think I've settled on a new Ash of War that I'm really digging. It's something no one has mentioned on the last page, the Lion's Claw. Fucking love pouncing on bad guys and knocking them down. That's what I'm all about. And with that, I got my revenge on Godefroy and killed his ass. I also had some trouble deciding which stat to boost now when leveling up, and eventually went with Vigor, because Vigor. I think I want to try to get it to 60, because why not? Unless there's another stat someone thinks will be more useful for me right now. Anyway, I also cleared out the Shaded Castle, because I'd heard there was something there for Millicent and I wanted to give her a hand. ... ... ... Elemer Of The Briar was surprisingly easy considering he's another version of the Ball-Busting Hunter, but me and my Mimic made short work of him. My Mimic even got the final blow. Good for him.
Neither. It's not Godfrey and not Godrick, it's Godefroy. Godefroy the Grafted. In the Golden Lineage Evergaol. I mean, it looks like Godrick, but it's technically not him. Or maybe it is and he changed his name. Or maybe it's his weird forgotten brother sealed in a can. Who knows with these people.
all the names in this game start with G, R, or M lol its infuriating Malenia Melina Millicent Marika Miriel Miquella Ranni Rennala Renna Roderika Rogier Radahn Godrick Godfrey Godefrey the Grafted
My wife is away for work tomorrow night and I'm sorely tempted to pick this up... my hesitation is that I don't get a whole lot of opportunity to play on my PS4 these days with family life, so with such a big game I don't want it to just be sitting there...
Won't be starting til tomorrow night, but as I'm going in blind, the little I've picked up on from lurking here is I'm best off starting with a Vagabond and pumping my stats into vigour? Any other non-spoilery advice?
honestly, the class you start at really doesn't matter aside from your base stats. What you pump your stats just depends on how you want to play. Vigor is never a bad choice to start out, as you may not know how you want to play (STR vs DEX vs Caster) until you find specific weapons and/or spells when you start, you are able to pick a "gift". My recommendation is to pick a Stonesword key, as these open various hidden areas throughout the game. If you need a 100% walkthrough, try FightinCowboy on youtube...his videos are great. I was struggling at the start of the game mightily and then I found his videos and it made me fall in love with the game. Lastly, this is a good list to follow: TL;DR All NPC Quest Steps in Order | Roundtable Guides
Just explore. Find lots of the sites and Grace and just have fun. Honestly, the game is great and if you get stuck, pull up a guide. I would love to experience the game for the first time again.
Player's Log: I've explored a good chunk of Altus Plateau, mainly the area around the Dectus Lift and the Magma Wyrm's exit. Actually, I was trying to find the part of the Lux Ruins where I fight the Demi-Human Queen, and in doing so managed to find every surrounding dungeon but that. I did finally find it though. I also joined Fight Club AKA the Volcano Manor. Killed my first target, with eyes on my second, since it's in Altus. Got a nice new set of armor that raised my poise fairly significantly, which is nice. Poise is nice. My Lion's Claw continues to be everything I hoped it to be. Knocking enemies down and making them stay down, that's the way. I'd like to modify my previous thoughts about Dallios: he can go fuck himself. Met him at the manor and I've never been more disgusted at his shift in attitude. I did also give D's brother the Twinned Armor to remember his sibling by. Unfortunately, even with him, the Lion's Claw, and my Mimic, I'm still not ready to fight those two Gargoyles. Must get more Vigor.
