Radahn took me a good 10 tries so I cannot say it was too easy, some of his attacks are absolutely punishing too (that one where he jumps up into the air and does 2 or 3 spinning divebomb attacks were quite hard to dodge, but then loads of people on Twitter said they never saw him do that attack even once?!). I just think it's a cool & unique approach, and justified due to his in-game reputation as a legendary warrior. I like Morgott, Maliketh and Godfrey a lot too, but A) I beat them all first try so were "easier" in the context of my specific playthrough (not bragging, I know I was over-levelled for 50%+ of my journey) and B) suffered from having less build-up and spectacle than Radahn had.
He was great, top 5 for me for sure - incredible design, fantastic arena and the 2nd phase reveal is so cool, but he just seemed very easy to stunlock and/or poise-break in that 2nd phase. Plan to try him solo in NG+ with a magic build so I bet he will destroy me this time.
I didn't play a very poise-breaking build when I played through Elden Ring and sometimes I do feel like I played an entirely different game than other people, especially with Malenia
That's the beauty of it, so many different ways to go through the same game! Even builds based around the same main stat like DEX can go in so many different ways with all the AOW's and status effects you can focus on. I did not use a single weapon or set of armor that was not related to the Land Of Reeds for example, so that was quite restrictive in a way but did not affect my enjoyment whatsoever!
I agree to an extent, I just don't enjoy that I might not have gotten the full appreciation of a boss fight due to whatever build was used and have to go back and do it again another time, especially when Elden Ring isn't really a game that has encouraged me to revisit it because of how often it revisits itself at times (for example giving me the same boss twice and then being like "now theres 2" for a subsequent fight, and doing that with sooooo many encounters) I dunno, the more time passes the harder I get on Elden Ring and I do still think it's amazing, I just don't know how badly I want to go back. I tried to NG+ shortly after finishing and then later do a fresh NG on PC and neither have kept my attention well. So yeah while I agree that it's awesome that there are so many ways to play it I also don't like how overwhelming the thought of exploring all of those is haha Maybe the moral of the story is "do everything the first time then skip around the second time" but I never know what to skip because I don't know if things I'm skipping would be more enjoyable with the build I'm on now than the build I was on before
If observed in the wild, my Elden Ring experience consists of a lot of frantic button pressing and mouthing "Fuck you, bitch" at my monitor, so you know when I've killed a boss.
they nerfed Radahn quite a bit when the game first dropped, he was apparently absurdly hard. I did not get to him before the nerf, though.
I feel you on pretty much all of those points tbh; I am gonna go for NG but I am not exactly thrilled about a lot of what I have to and feel like I will be skipping pretty much everything that I can get away with skipping. This game is colossal and it is daunting even to those who have gone through it once before; if I do not end up liking a magic build then I will just put the game down of a while instead of re-spec + continue on - I have no real interest in pure strength whatsoever so know I will not play that type of build, will not go Arcane either, so a mix of INT/FAI is my only option anyway. I did explore as much as possible and didn't miss anything major, went to all areas and did about 95% of bosses so I'm thankful I know how to streamline subsequent playthroughs. I cannot be bothered with most NPC quests however - I do not give a fuck about "preceptor seluvis" or whatever he's called, Diallos or brother Corhyn or whoever so will not be doing any of those in NG+.
I feel bad for Diallos' friend being killed, but I haven't found a reason to care about Corhyn and Sellivus can go fuck himself.
lmao, I was the same. Everything I've learned about the story I've learned from VaatiVidya YouTube lore videos. One of my biggest criticisms about this game is that you get zero buildup on any of the major bosses - you just walk through the fog, get one short cutscene as an introduction and you go kill them. In Sekiro at least you interact with the major characters like Isshin, Emma, Owl and Genichiro, build their stories a bit more before you fight/kill them
I guess I just cheesed radahn because I beat him first try and it was easy. Just kept summoning dudes, rode around on torrent, and shot some Loretta’s great bow at him from a distance while he was focused on the summons. I only know what two of his attacks look like.
Player's Log: I didn't do a whole lot besides explore the Plateau. I sieged a bunch of encampments and looted the treasures they were hoarding, and I also saw the aftermath of Yura's last stand and avenged him. I entered the Evergaol with Godefroy in it and tried to kill him. I twice got him down to one last hit and then he killed me. Then I kept trying but didn't do nearly so well. I decided to back off for the moment. I'm thinking about changing my Ash Of War skill but I don't really know what to use. Lately I've been using Golden Vow to raise my stats, but I'm thinking of doing something else. Don't know what yet though. I also met an enemy that I loathe, which is the squidface looking thing that casts Death. I don't really have anything to protect me from that, and that's making me consider trying to raise my Faith and Intelligence stats so I can use Order Healing, but I don't know if it's worth it. Anyway, tomorrow I'll explore more and see what I can accomplish.
