also just FYI (as far as the lore goes), all the Black Knife characters are actually women...thought that was cool
All in all I would really hope a DLC would expand a bit on the whole friggin deal, from Marika to them especially
Player's Log: The Lake is starting to look a little emptier. I finished the Lakeside Crystal Cave and met Latenna, and got her Spirit Ash. That done, I then decided to prowl the lake for any remaining items and start taking on some optional bosses. First I killed the Night's Cavalry for this area. Weirdly, twice we were fighting and then all of a sudden he decided to fuck off to nowhere, so I had to chase after him and aggro him again. Fortunately any damage I inflicted remained, so we just picked up where we left off. Then I killed the Deathbird for this region, and then I found the Larval Tear by killing a Grafted Scion disguised as a lobster. I then started exploring the Academy Gate Town and met Diallos, and ransacked that location. I unfortunately did not trigger the Site of Grace at South Raya Lucaria, as I was about to die, so I'll save that for tomorrow. Instead, I capped off the evening by tackling what's called a Death Rite Bird. I guess it's different from a normal Deathbird, even though they look the same. They die the same, too. Tomorrow I'll start by going back to the Roundtable Hold to continue Diallos' questline, and then I may go back to Cliffbottom Catacombs to cross that off my list. According to the NPC timeline, I'm also supposed to now go to the Black Knife Catacombs, which is in a further north region I haven't been to yet, so I guess I'll be exploring that sector of the map. I'm also vaguely aware at some point my life will have 100% more dragon in it, so... (raises arm weakly)...yay... Good times ahead!
Additional note: If I could tackle all the bosses from the back of Torrent from now on, that'd be just swell.
Player's Log: Finally finished the Cliffbottom Catacombs. Learned the best way to fight Omens is to throw a Sleep Pot and hope it puts him to sleep long enough to get a few good hits in. It's funny, after the Omens, the Watchdog boss was kind of anticlimactic. Then I crushed the Erdtree Avatar to the west and cleared out the Road's End Catacombs. Fuckin' snail is a piece of shit, but I killed the sucker. My next venture is to start exploring the northeastern sector I've been avoiding. First stop will likely be to try to kill another Ball-Busting Hunter.
Also, to give an update on where my character stats are at, here's what I have. I'm Level 56, with 40 Vigor, 10 Mind, 17 Endurance, 26 Strength, 16 Dex, 9 Intelligence, 10 Faith, and 7 Arcane. I'm currently using a +10 Heavy Uchigatana with blood loss buildup, with a +3 Black-Key Crossbow and a +2 Finger Seal for additional support. I'm also using a +6 Brass Shield for protection, with the Erdtree's Favor and Crimson Amber Medallion for artifacts. Of course I also equipped Godrick's Rune. My go-to Ash Of War is a +3 Godrick Soldier's Ashes but I also have Lone Wolf at +3, Demi-Human at +2, and I decided to raise my new Latenna to +2 with the intent of trying it out at some point. My mixed physick is a combo of Strength-knot and Opaline, to raise damage resistance and increase strength. All in all, I feel good about my progress.
Players Log: just got to Anor Lando in my rerun of Dark Souls Remastered. Sen’s Fortress has to be one of most frustrating places in all the souls games, even if you know what’s coming. I’m bummed I didn’t get to the vendor before fighting the Golem but I had reversed hollowing and was carrying roughly 40, 000 souls and wanted to bring the NPC with me. I’ll go back when I can warp.
Also, I sent this picture to @sophos34 after narrowly beating the Hydra in Ash Lake and he commented on how much Vigor I have lol.
The Ball-Busting Hunter busted my balls, so I moved on for now. I know that's not his name, but I think mine is more accurate. I did take down all three Wandering Mausoleums, although it's not like it's really a fight. The one in the lake though was tough not because of him, but the fifty or so phantom knights surrounding it. I took them out one by one. Finding out I then had to jump on the moving Mausoleum to take it down gave me real shades of Shadow Of The Colossus in a real good way. Now I'm in the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel.
Finished Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel. Was having trouble until I discovered Fire Pots are invaluable against the enemies within. I've used more Fire Pots in the last twenty minutes than I have in the entire game prior. Also, nothing like a good jumping puzzle to remind you how dumb it is to have the run button be the same as the dodge button.
at least in elden ring you can jump. platforming in DS3 and DS1 (havent played 2 yet but just got a copy from my brother) is absolutely miserable and there are platforming sections lol quite a few even
How do you platform without jumping? Anyway, I just cleaned out the Frenzied Flame Tower and VIllage, and now I'm in the Black Knife Catacombs. Once I've done that, I'll go progress some NPC quests.
You essentially have to either roll or “jumping” is holding the run button down and releasing it at the last second to cross a gap, etc. Jumping, having Torrent and a spirit ash is mind blowing in these games.
well the platforming puzzles for the most part are heading downward, so youre falling onto platforms and also balancing on small beams and shit like that its annoying
Alright, it's dragon time. I literally can't do anything else in Liurnia until I do something about the elephant in the room, AKA Raya Lucaria Academy.
Getting to the bottom of that hole to get the flame of frenzy was infuriating. The dropping platforming is pretty horrible. From is one of my fav game companies so I don’t say that lightly
