Gaping Dragon was the first Souls boss I ever got really stuck on. I kept getting poisoned and don't think I knew where to get antidotes from. Didn't get passed it until after I beat Dark Souls 2.
I thought I was gonna be stuck for a while but found the vendor with the lightning resin and got it next try
I also bought the crystal greatsword not knowing you can’t repair it lol but I’ve got my claymore up to +7, sucks tho because I love using a shield and claymore is better two handed but it still works for me
Either rennala is super easy or I’m starting to git gud. It’s difficult to adjust when I’ve always been a hack and slash kinda guy but at level 61 maybe I’ve finally figured it out
61 is quite high for rennala and she’s not particularly tough, the difficulty ramps up significantly in the end game
Player's Log: Okay, we need to talk about Castle Stormveil. So, I tried to do anything else but Stormveil. I found the Stonesword Key I was looking for and unlocked the Gaol to the Ancient Hero of Zamor, and he slayed me. I went back to Limgrave, tried the Bell-Bearing Hunter again, tried the Crucible Knight again, tried the Fringefolk Hero's Grave again, and got nothin'. The field bosses slayed me, and while the dungeon itself isn't much a challenge now, the bosses in the dungeon slayed me. So, I decided to see what Stormveil was about. Up until now, the game for me has pretty much been about running around a large field and finding little caves here and there. Stormveil is a fucking maze, and it's a frustrating maze when you don't know where you're going, don't want to miss anything important, and have so much distance between Grace sites. Without getting too deep into what I've done, I'm now at the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace, and that's where I've stopped. I did defeat the Grafted Scion, but I tried the Crucible Knight of Stormveil and he's just as tough as the other one. I've adjusted some armaments. I noticed if I put the Ash of War Bloody Slash on my Uchigatana but don't make it a Blood Uchigatana, it looks like I still get the bleed effect and my weapon stats don't take a dive. I also purchased another incantation, this time for throwing fire. The bow is coming in really handy. My favorite thing is when I finally got to the backside of the huge armada that I presume would've taken me out if I'd approached from the other side, I just picked them off one by one with arrows. It was pretty great. Anyway, I also unlocked Roderika's ability to level up Spirit Ash, and so I leveled some of my spirits, although I don't know how much good it does me as I'm having problems finding anywhere in the Castle where I can use them. Also, birds with swords are terrifying. I'm kind of nervous because I'm feeling underprepared, but I don't know how to prepare any more than I already am. Gonna try to persevere tomorrow and see how far I get. I'd like to beat Godrick this weekend, but we'll see what happens.
went back to Stormveil after a while to look for things i missed and i found a whole ass underground area i didn't know existed.
the ulcerated tree whatever down there would f me up so bad. Just went back yesterday and defeated him, finally
400,000+ runes for defeating Mohg Lord of Blood incredible fight, one of if not the best I have done so far; such a cool arena and his moveset is very punishing but never annoying, think I got him 5th or 6th try which I was happy with. Kinda running out of stuff to do now though! Fire Giant up next - once that is done should I go to Farum Azula or to Miquella's Haligtree? I.e. which one is easier (lol)?
Haligtree is this game’s equivalent of end game content. It’s stupidly hard. it’s also my favorite area so ymmv
Player's Log: So, I'm going to need to walk back some of the stuff I said last night, because I beat Godrick, and rather easily at that. Actually, I've pretty much cleaned out Stormveil Castle at this point, with the exception of the Crucible Knight. I did destroy the Ulcerating Tree Spirit, and that was terrifying, but I did it. I also went to the Divine Tower and repowered Godrick's rune. Was pretty fun taking out three of those magma giants in a row. I think what's tripping me up about my progress is that I forget that the optional bosses are optional for a reason, except you absolutely need to defeat optional bosses to stand a chance against the actual story bosses. It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of thing, and it makes it harder to gauge if I'm just not ready for something or if I'm just not trying hard enough. Another problem I have is that I get very mindless when I'm hacking and slashing and haven't been perfecting my rolling, or dodging in general. I also get impatient, and that gets me frustrated. Anyway, to drive the point home, after I finished with Stormveil, I went back to the Ball-Busting Hunter and killed him. Funny event, when fighting the Hunter, he smacked me into a wall of the hut and I glitched into the wall, so for a while, I was fighting him while stuck. I'd hit him, he'd aggro, I'd roll to the side, he'd think I fucked off, he'd go to the other side of the wall to find me, and then I'd hit him again. He killed me eventually, but then I killed him on the next attempt. I also met Boc at Liurnia of the Lakes, and I gather that's my next area of focus. First I'll go to Roundtable Hold and see what new wonders await me there, and then I'll head to Liurnia to poke around.
Have unlocked it already (getting there was the single worst thing I've done in the game so far, absolutely atrocious quest) and made it to the first site of grace, went on a bit further and ran into one of those Leonine Misbegotten things and just thought nahh & dipped Have done Fire Giant now so Farum Azula next I guess
