havent given this a go yet (im about to!) but ive enjoyed his previous ranking videos for other games in the series and other categories besides just bosses, so im glad hes tackling elden ring. dont always agree with him and this is pretty fresh after release and can probably change but yeah, i havent even thought of my top bosses in the game yet but might get a little ranking going after watching this.
Finally digging into DS remastered and got Taurus demon down last night on second try. Really weird how you entered a fog gate at the beginning of the dungeon (? I guess?) but there was no boss til a later fog gate, threw me off from how I know that system to work in later games. also there’s either no bonfires anywhere or I can’t find any but I’m searching every knook and cranny I can whenever I’m able. Still those very minor gripes (and some clunky feeling controls and camera, at times), it’s clear why this kicked off such a massive franchise so far. Excited to see where this takes me, I’ve been standing in awe of what seems like this vast, desolate and decrepit world
There’s definitely less bonfires than the later games/Elden Ring, but they’re typically placed by shortcuts/intersecting paths so it’s nice. I think they overdid it in Elden Ring.
Demon's Souls is very much built as levels so you don't really get a "bonfire" outside the beginning one at the start of the level. It has the classic Miyazaki shortcut porn to alleviate some time to run back to the level boss but generally it's start, run the level to the boss, beat the boss and get the checkpoint for the next level of the area
Also warning…there are some bonfires just a LITTLE too far so be prepared for some frustration! Elden Ring had wayyy less of this moments of frustration for me, but still the same difficulty!
just finished up Slave Knight Gael so that wraps up DSIII and the DLCs for me think its time for NG+ on Elden Ring. I was strictly a strength boi on my first playthrough, think I will try and incorporate some magic in this time through
Radahn did not disappoint wow. The festival was so cool and I loved Alexander’s speech before it. Now I just need to follow this crazy quest to get to the second divine tower in order to activate his great rune.
FromSoft is such a good studio with so many brilliant designs. I know everyone loves souls games but I'd really love to see what they can do for a modern interpretation of AC. I think it would be significantly different and very, very cool to see.
Check the bottom of the tower. I completely missed it until my NG++ playthrough. Kind of a tough platform challenge (as they tend to be in fromsoft games since their platforming mechanics are horrible and half baked)
Oh yes I did the bottom of the tower already. Got all the items and killed the npc. Was very confused when I didn’t see a way up then saw it’s a whole long quest line to do so
I am good with not playing another souls style game for 3-5 years. Would prefer to see something else from them too.
Honestly I was thinking about it after finishing Radahn and exploring more of Caelid. Like how do they even make another soulsborne after this? Especially this generation. I would love for them to try their hand at another genre. Or expand on Sekiro combat
Have finally finished Stormveil castle, goddamn that place is colossal. Was level 38-40 when I was going through it w/ Uchigatana+6 and it was a breeze compared to trying it at level 20-25. I am an idiot though - I thought the golden runes that you get from cracking open those little skulls/loot from enemies were things that you would use to increase the number of runes you acquired for a short time when you kill enemies under it's effect (despite absolutely nothing in the game suggesting that this is the case). Had no idea they just give you a bunch of runes, probably got at least 1 levels worth in my inventory right now lol
From isn’t allowed to make another game as good as Elden Ring. Why? Because I was completely addicted. It really is one of the best games of the last 10-20 years. Can’t wait for all the clones!
