I beat DoH fairly exactly once, and ever since then have cheesed him off the cliff in each subsequent playthrough lol. Such a difficult fight.
I've been wanting to do the Shura gauntlet, only thing I haven't finished in Sekiro, and the thought of redoing DoH is the one thing that's kept me from it and kept me doing other things
Yeah that's the last thing for me to do also, luckily you can 100% do the cliff cheese on him in the gauntlet too! That Isshin fight worries me more as I've only ever done it 3 times and will need to practice a lot (got very lucky and beat it on my 3rd try with my health bar literally empty, I do not know how I was still alive lol)
Inner Isshin isnt too bad! Honestly thought he was easier than Inner Genichiro. Didn't realize you can cheese DoH off the cliff in gauntlet though, that's good to know. Although having done a legit clear the first time and a cheese clear after, the cheese clear takes a damn long amount of time to get right too haha
I meant the Isshin fight from the Shura ending when he's still an old man, my bad for not making that clear - I love Inner Isshin and I feel that is the best boss fight I have ever experienced in any game and I replay that just for fun all the time! I am very worried about Inner Owl though as that looks absolutely insane. I think Miyazaki said that version of Owl was his favorite boss that FromSoft had ever created (but those comments were pre-ER I belive)
Oh yeah I gotcha, I am extremely bad at that one haha. I'm definitely worse at it than Inner/Sword Saint. I'm mortified of Inner Owl as well and also agree with Miyazaki on that! I like Sword Saint a biiiiit more in retrospect but on my first playthrough Owl(Father) was my fav fight ever and is still in my top 3 after going through DS3/BB/ER.
Not extremely, some extra attacks and combos that switch it up but for the most part the overall "feel" is the same I've only done 2/3 but one of em felt much harder and the other felt close to the same. But the fundamentals are roughly the same
I was so mad at Sword Saint my first playthrough as it took me 30-40 tries to finally beat him, but I practiced him a ton before facing him in NG+1 and through that my appreciation for every aspect of the fight just went through the roof. When you think of videogames as art I often default to the design/look of the game over anything else (like Fountainhead Palace and Senpou Temple are beautifully designed areas), but that final fight to me is art too - Just a perfect example of the heights a video game can reach when the focus is giving the player a challenging and rewarding experience.
Yeah sword saint is gonna take me a while but I can at least see how it’s possible unlike demon of hatred I just can’t see how to do that one yet lol
It seems like you have a pretty good grasp of the game so far so it will probably take you fewer tries than most - Owl can be tough as he has lots of cheap tricks up his sleeve like those anti-healing orbs, SSI fights reasonably fair but just hits so damn hard
yeah and I only have 2 prayer beads right now and all my options for getting a couple more are fucking horrible. I didn’t kill the seven spears guy in the reservoir so now he has a fucking friend with him
Yeah that one is a pain in the ass haha - I think there are 1 or 2 prayer beads that don't require you to defeat any mini-bosses to get. Apologies if you've got these already, but I remember one being underwater in a chest in the Mibu Village lake, and one on top the head of the giant Buddha statue in the poison pool just before Headless Ape's arena (where you fought Snake Eyes)
Didn’t get either of those but there’s another hidden in a secret wall in Ashina castle. That’s gonna help a ton but then I’m gonna realize I can get an even bigger health bar if I take on the mini bosses I missed hahaha
Yeah I would kill as many of them as you can, not just for the bigger health bar but some of them drop very helpful items that you will use on every subsequent playthrough. The 5 Headless also give you a good reward for beating them too, but perhaps won't be helpful for the Sword Saint fight the same way prayer beads will be
The cheapest & most frustrating fight in the game. I have never not raged when I’ve attempted it Red one is great but I don’t think I have ever used the blue spirit fall ever before! I’m never confident using the one that cuts half your health too, far too risky!
I'm halfway through my second playthrough with a katana build and wooowwww the bleeding status effect is OP
i'm a little dissatisfied/regretting how i distributed my stat points and it's got me wanting to start over with a new character (since getting around to the boss that lets me respec after is a hassle) but i also don't wanna feel like i'm wasting/bout to throw away the 69 (nice) hours i've put into my first character
