Went back to the game after a decent break and cleared Malenia and final boss There were a lot of bosses in the game I just didn’t enjoy overall. Malenia though…A+ fight, an absolute blast. At least in my top 5 FromSoft fights, likely top 3
I hope I feel this way after I'm done with her. I really haven't committed to learning her move set like I should.
The biggest thing that helped me in each phase was removing lock on for the final jump of the big attack so I can roll straight through her leap easier/cleaner (phase 1) and running straight through her at the start of second phase and not stopping till after the flower explodes (phase 2). Spoiler tagging in case you don't want advice or anything haha. But yeah I was just incredibly thrilled the entire fight and I didn't really get that from a lot of the other ER bosses. Some for sure.
I find glitch speed runs fascinating in how they bend and break the game in completely bonkers ways, and it’s only an 8 minute video so it’s not like some wild time investment to watch lol.
Sword Saint Isshin, Lady Maria, Hirata Owl, Nameless King, Malenia are probably my personal top 5 favorites, no clue on the order I haven't played DS1 and very recently started DS2 so I can't comment on any of those bosses yet
Make sure you have Rot protection for phase two. She can inflict it very easily. You just have to practice. It got to the point where I was blazing through phase one.
Favorite bosses in Elden Ring: 1. Maliketh (love the idea behind protectors/shadows) 2. Mohg (there is a reason you fought this dude twice) 3. Radagon (such a cool boss design) Honorable mention to Melania, the two optional dragons and another I won’t spoil
my tip for malenia is, if youre using a mimic tear especially, wear the heaviest armor you can while still having a medium load, use an equip load talisman if you have to so youre wearing something with pretty heavy damage mitigation. i think i did it with the twinned set. pretty crucial as she heals off damage to your mimic too and if youre both decked out in some decently heavy armor she'll heal up way less. other than that once you learn how to dodge her phase transition explosion you can open phase 2 pretty aggressively (or pop a physick with the huge blow mitigation and then some sustained mitigation, thats what i had on it anyway and always popped it at phase transition whether or not i was able to hit my dodge of the flower explosion correctly or not.)
vigor matters some but mitigation matters more as she heals off damage done to you so even if you have a ton of vigor she's still getting huge heals off.
Definitely Another method is using a fully upgraded Black Knight Tiche as he moves around so much he is hard for her to hit.
Pontiff Suhlyvan can get absolutely fucked and the run to him from the bonfire kills me just as much as he does, and it’s literally not possible without one of the summons and since I missed the two quest lines I only get one of the three but of course you can only use those summons with an ember active so I have to go farm lothrig high wall every time I run out. That’s not even touching on the boss fight which is completely unfair when he summons his copy and who cares if you kill him because he’s gonna summon it again and if your NPC summon dies before then good fucking luck!!!
Good choices! Genichiro was such a massive wall for me but then when you have to fight him again during the sword saint isshin fight, he was cake. Lady Maria is awesome too. I remember the ape from Sekiro being such a memorable experience too
