I've been rocking the Bloodhound's Fang...got it to +10 and its unstoppable basically I will say that I've been trying to beat the bell bearing hunter at the merchant shack in Caelid and its literally impossible...I've tried like 15 times and this guy just rocks me every time. I am like level 120ish strong boi FYI
sidenote- for anyone struggling early on (I definitely was), FightinCowboy on YT has a GREAT 100% walkthrough series that I have been using and its helped tremendously
not gonna lie I cheesed the hell out of him because yeah he’s the hardest of the bunch i just shot a bunch of poison arrows at him and then poison spread and I went in for a few sword attacks and then back out to keep shooting more poison arrows
i see everyone use sepukku and I’m hopeful I’m close to getting it since I’ve just used the basic unsheathed for the uchigatana i have uchigatana +21, rivers of blood +9 and bloodhound fang +9 as my main three
jeez dark souls 3 is a lot more difficult. mostly due to the lack of bonfires throughout this first real level but once you unlock the shortcuts and stuff it is easy to get to the boss quickly but it was a lot of really painful trial and error to discover the level layout lol. after 2 attempts on this second boss im really really close so its only a matter of time but i had to hop off for a bit. overall the familiarity of the engine after playing elden ring and also going with a pure dex dual wield build to begin like i did in elden ring is working since im not completely lost and know what im doing combat wise. still, i feel much weaker at this stage than i did in elden ring
Rivers of Blood goes to 10 so you are almost there. I like Sepukku because I activate it prior to going into a fight and it stays for a good amount. Plus it uses health so it allows me to have another weapon that uses FP. You just have to be careful not to swap it before it runs out or you have completely wasted health.
I want to say Elden Ring is harder than any dark souls, but I also think that’s just recency bias. They’re all very hard until you know what works. Elden Ring definitely has WAY more bonfires, like an unreasonable amount. A questionable amount. Why are there three graces a minute apart in a field with barely enemies? I don’t get it.
it definitely felt trivial at times as did being able to fast travel from literally everywhere, something skyrim routinely gets criticized for but no one really mentioned about elden ring
I think the Sites of Grace have another purpose beyond save points and that they also guide the player in the right direction for the most part.
while I appreciate the convenience of fast travel, I really like that you have to “earn it” in Dark Souls 1. But In an open world like Elden Ring it’s necessary
love all the metal lore about people holding up stars and fighting the rot of the world and then “and this guy, who eats shit for pleasure”
At this point any Sony exclusive is on the table. You don’t just buy Nixxes, a studio that literally only does PC ports, for fun.
hot take: if you paid even passing attention to the game's story, that VaatiVidya video will barely tell you anything new. which is to say Vaati did a great job, Elden Ring just isn't as obtuse as most other From titles.
Idk I paid attention and it still gave me a lot of cool info about how things fit together. I do agree that it's not as obtuse though and you can probably get more from the game easier than some of the others. Plus this seems like the first of many he's going to make just setting up the basics of the story. I'm always blown away by how much detail and thought there is in every aspect of these games though. Their stories/designs and cinematic trailers always make me want some sort of limited series from them lol.
