I feel like its supposed to be. Its the biggest example of them adding in a ton of stuff to make the game easier on players without actually making an easy mode. It's something that will help a lot if you want it, but if you don't you can just ignore it.

 

Bolt of Gransax. You just have to get it before you Burn the Erdtree.

ngl ive been pretty turned off by ever trying DS2 by what ive read about it throughout the years but i know ill get around to it sooner rather than later. im gonna start DS3 very soon and snag DS remastered as soon as i can. no playstation for me so demon's souls and bloodborne are gonna have to wait for if they ever port to PC or i win the lottery. sekiro is probably gonna come after DS and DS3 just because i know the combat system is far more narrow and less flexible (i know, its not completely rigid and it looks offensive enough for me to be able to pick it up) so im anticipating it to be the hardest by a considerable amount. we shall see if im right but by the end of the year hopefully ill have them all done besides the playstation ones! but yeah i mean i played the fuck out of elden ring and "got good" pretty quickly so the intimidation i used to feel for this series has mostly completely evaporated because i know the difficulty is less steeped in sheer reaction timing and more just boils down to time commitment in terms of like, preparation and trial and error gameplay and learning systems by interacting with them myself and not just reading tutorial screens, etc. when you stop viewing these games as "difficult" and more as "requires above average critical thinking compared to most games" they arent so scary.

 

Couldn’t agree more. Also, there is such a feeling of confidence and euphoria when you finally beat a boss or get past an area you couldn’t before and that’s unlike a lot of other games.

 

i dont see a dark souls general thread and im not posting in the VG thread for now but if you guys would rather i dont post my DS3 screenies in here just lemme know, otherwise id like to share my journey without spoiling too much to others who havent played :)

Rivers of Blood is ok. I like my Level 25 Uchigatana with Sepukku better.

 

I would not be surprised at all if the Demon’s Souls remake gets ported to PC in a couple years

Rivers of Blood’s spirit ash is insanely OP. Low FP cost, massive damage+bleed and staggers. At least until they nerf it, it’s probably the best “easy mode” weapon in the game.

 

Oh definitely. I just prefer the Uchigatana/Sepukku combo much better.
