It seems that charged R2 attacks are EXTREMELY helpful in that they can stun just about anyone, I just stunned Margit with one and it helped me finish the fight a LOT.I've stunned quite a few other massive enemies with a charged R2
The Giant was a fun fight. Pro tip: draw him out of the gates. I’m sure it’s doable behind the gate but it was worse than fighting the Capra Demon in DS1 the few times I tried. I saw that trolls undercarriage far more than I wanted to.
Basically playing an orc. Big beefy green skin dude that runs around jumping on people with his axe Got a skill thing that I attached to my axe. But the skill move always just does the parry with my shield. If I put the shield away I can use the other skill. But how do I use it while I have the shield out?
Click left or right on the directional pad, which ever hand you have your shield equipped to and your character will put the shield away giving you a free hand
You can’t. If you look on the left side of the screen it will change from Parry to whatever skill you have equipped. You just have to put your shield away to see it.
Also so people know, you can 2 most weapons, hold triangle and tap R1 or L1, depending on what hand the weapon is in, and you will 2 hand and increase your damage done. Once you get used to the controls (it takes a bit) you can very swiftly go from 2 hand to sword and shield and back to 2 hand.
ah that feels kinda dumb. Feels like only having one skill limits options? Guess I'll have to try running around with just the axe. Mechanically, whats the difference between two handing the axe and one handing the axe with nothing in my off hand?
You can! (Sorry guys) there’s an ash of war called “no skill”. Add it to the shield and it’ll default to the weapon.
Nothing really. You just have to remember to two hand a weapon if you aren’t using the shield. You can still block and parry but it won’t be as effective.
kinda dumb they don't just give that to you but also seems like maybe they should have a way of letting you use multiple skills? idk. maybe that would be too awkward
Yeah, I can’t wait to get bleed. The little gargoyles in one of the dungeons has it and they gang up and kick your ass.
I can't wait to get a fucking bow lol. I got some cool handheld ballista thing but I need 30 str. 30 str sets me up for a whole bunch of bad ass weapons i've found.
Starting class really just helps you go down the avenue you're trying to go down easier by picking what stats you want to focus on. I'm realizing that if I want to even out some magic for my vagabond I can just respec later on and adjust to see how I like it.
Also apparently equip load effects stuff like that. Man this has gotta be one of the most mechanically deep AAA games out there and a big part of what makes it so challenging. I reckon it'll take a bit of time to figure out and learn all the movesets w/ various weapons, spells, special items, etc to build the most effective playstyles out of.
