FromSoftware Video Game

FromSoftware, Inc. is a Japanese video game development company founded in November 1986 and a subsidiary of Kadokawa Corporation. The company is best known for their Armored Core and Souls series, including the related games Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring.

This thread is to discuss all FromSoftware games such as; King's Field, Armored Core, the Souls games, Bloodborne, Sekiro and Elden Ring.

The most recent title, Elden Ring, is an action role-playing game featuring the collaboration of FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki and A Song of Ice and Fire series author George R. R. Martin and released on platforms in 2022.

kinda hope this isn't as punishing as the souls games. Like sure, keep ultra punishing game modes in for people who want it, but if you're gonna get someone like GRRM writing for you don't lock that writing away behind a major skill wall.

The teaser is super underwhelming and I’m not in love with the design (that big guy on fire looks more soul caliber than dark souls) but boy am I excited for Miyazaki to go back to an RPG.

I’m fine with Dark Souls difficulty, just make it easier than Sekiro haha

 

That 'unique and horrifying' Miyazaki quote has me way more excited than the teaser.

 

I mean Sekiro has RPG elements, and DS3 is an ARPG?

 

Souls -----> Soulsborne -----> Sekiroulsborne -----> Ringskiroulsborne?

 

Sekiro is super light on the RPG elements and more of a straight up action game. There’s really not that much variety in ways to play compared to Dark Souls/Bloodborne.

 

I'm always happy for another Souls-type game but I think GRRM's ideas have a lot more to offer that this will be typically story driven.
