I haven’t been a fan of the last few episodes. I kinda feel like the show is dragging its feet on killing off Henry and not exploring storywalking enough. Kristi and Sara have also felt brushed to the side for the most part which is too bad By end of season I’d like to see someone figure out Sophia is the MIY, Henry and at least one other significant character meet their fate, and Julie make progress in figuring out storywalking. If I were to bet I’d say the season will probably end on a cliffhanger re: the children’s bones being dug up
I think those things sum up my issues. At the start of the season (which really is feeling like a long time ago now with how this is dragging out seemingly every storyline) when the MIY took on the persona of this young girl and reveled in telling the dying priest that this is his "favorite part" because this is when the citizens of Fromville all start tearing each other apart and he wished it could last forever...I was left with the impression a lot more would be happening. I'm wishing someone would have been suspicious of Sophia from the beginning because at this point there are only two episodes left and no one has a clue so every time she's slinking around being a creep I'm just left hoping somebody notices and ends this storyline already. The cliffhanger at the end of last season had some really interesting implications for Julie and story walking that just hasn't really lived up the expectations I had going in. When Jade angrily started trashing his "map" he'd made I turned to my wife and said, "and now he's going to look at the destroyed map and realize the destruction actually helped him see something he'd missed before" and then like a couple scenes later that's exactly what happened and I just threw my head back like "huuuuuuuhhhhh can we please just get on with this." And now we've apparently circled back to "something's wrong with Fatima" again and all the theorizing about her turning into a monster after all and I don't know, I'm really hoping the final season is fulfilling.
I love how Boyd is just in a constant state of irritation at all times, regardless of if people are trying to help him.

There is a lot going for this show, but I do think we need some meaningful storyline payoffs before things get too nebulous—and we are encroaching on that territory. I agree with those bringing up MIY and the Julia storyline, it's been too much of the season where nothing has really progressed with those plot points. As a Lost-like show, I feel that From has not given us characters/character development that are compelling and strong on that level. With Lost, I was always good with the story ambiguity and chaos because that was just the scaffolding for those amazing characters. Not so much the case with From at this point.
It's nuts that even with the crazy amount of episodes LOST had, it never had a problem keeping my attention, unlike From which only has 10 per season. Just frustrating to keep having episodes where something interesting only occurs in the last 5-10 minutes. Also increasingly frustrated with Tabitha living in constant denial and being so mean to Victor, who is supposed to be her developmentally challenged son from a past life haha. She is such a terrible mother between that and constantly making promises to Ethan that she knows she may be unable to keep.
There are tons of characters who could be potentially great if their development was honed in a bit more. Which hopefully happens! Victor, Kenny, Boyd, even Julia and Jade. Sarah has probably had the coolest arc overall, although she's basically a side character at this point.
Great episode! I like the revelations that MIY had a long-standing bargain with a character we’ve known since season 1 and can only take the form of people who’ve died in the town. Also pleased that the story has already gotten to the bones being uncovered instead of making it the last moment of the season Boyd’s “I don’t fuckin’ like you,” while praying to God gave me a chuckle. So did, “Why is this so difficult?” “It’s a heavy slab of rock”
Lol they give her the worst damn lines. Also, I know they were in a rush, but Tabitha loudly grunting while lifting the slab in a den full of monsters cracked me up. Laughed at Jade's lines to Tabitha walking from Colony House, too: "You're lucky." "Why?" "Not a single person tried to talk me out of this." Lol. But yeah! Over all, one of the best episodes we've had. The entire episode had plot from the very beginning instead of holding off to the last 5-10 minutes. Really liked it. Can't wait for the finale.
Btw - episode 10 spoilers are out in the wild if anyone is impatient like me lol. I 100% believe them because the same source was completely accurate for episode 9.
Actually it always airs at 12 AM EST in the MGM+ app anyways. One of the only shows I know that doesn't go by midnight PST. I watch it every Saturday night. I think if you have MGM+ as a Prime add-on and watch it in the Prime Video app, it might be later, though.
Disappointing finale tbh. A big dud once the lightning stopped. Not a necessarily bad episode, but a bad finale. I think ep 9 was better.
I really liked it. We’re still getting another season. Highlights: Algin, Fatima, and Marielle died. Fatima actually turned into a creature. The theories that BIW is actually MIY and Fatima becomes the kimono woman are officially false. BIW and MIY seem to be adversaries, playing a game with each other each cycle. The bottle tree is gone. The whole storyline of “is Henry going to kill Victor?” is done. MIY took all the talismans and put them in the faraway tree. Where will they go? In the cave for Boyd in the past to find?
I thought it was fine. I have a feeling that MIY or Clara missed a talisman and they’ll have at least one to work with. I’m interested in what they do with Fatima. Will she act as “the golem” for the town as a monster or is she just full blown creature with no control. There’s still a lot of questions they need to wrap up over the final 10 episode so I’d like to see way less filter in the final season.
