this is really the best and most creative thing to come from any band trying to break out of the 'scene' critically and musically. Along with Foxing probably
i always thought that triple crown should get a foxing/FIL tour together it's weird because FIL was never sort of the "emo" scene and was more in the more prog TDH/rx bandits/circa scene
idk i think the similar artists on their last fm page is pretty accurate as to who i would associate them with. hrvrd, lydia, all get out, copeland, etc Similar artists to From Indian Lakes — Free listening, videos, concerts, stats and photos at Last.fm
some of this reminds of Copeland. but it's probably better than any of their songs except for maybe like 2 I can think of off the top of my head.
one of the first things i thought listening to this album is that it sounds like copeland and hellogoodbye had a child. thats better than both of them (and i love them both)
i haven't heard the new album but i definitely wouldn't say that anything they've done up to this point is better than copeland's great moments. i'll be pleasantly fucking surprised if i feel differently with the new album.
yaknow I'm not really familiar with hellogoodbye I reckon this dude was influenced by some Eno, Boards, and stuff for these dank analog synth sounds and then some Washed Out, Tycho, etc for some songwriting on this
Lol I still wish I could have publicly explained what actually happened. Oh well. Just listened to the singles and they're great!!
the last two hellogoodbye records are some pretty good synth pop and im pretty sure forrest (main guy in hgb) uses analog synths mainly
I remember hearing a track off one of their newest ones and liking it alot. I'll check the rest out tonight probably.
hellogoodbye is very good. their progression is just insane from their first ep and album. if there was a "most improved" award in the scene for like the last decade they'd def be in the running.
yeah i think i was 16 and i loved that record haha. still come back to it like once a year for the good memories.
I knew they changed a long time ago. But I just always thought/remembered them as the band with the over the top auto tune from their first release or whatever
