You should probably check out Absent Sounds first before this new album. It would bridge the gap better or else it's going to seem like a very drastic change ha
Just saw em with Bad Suns, only played songs from this and Absent Sounds iirc. Played Sunlight, The Monster, Blank Tapes, Feel Love, American Dreams, Happy Machines, Fog, Am I Alive in some order. Might be forgetting one. They killed it though
How does he perform the new songs. Is it all in the breathy falsetto? (Prob not what that is called. Ha)
Kinda I guess? He didn't really bust out the full chest voice for much of the night, kinda sang quietly and close to the mic. He sounded pretty consistent with the album though
Been listening to this album a ton lately. It's got so many great grooves but it's also so chilling and I love it
i'm also still on the side of able bodies being their best and the only one that has stuck with me long term
American Dreams is good, not my favorite on the record though or even top 5, really. Absent Sounds is my fav overall
Yeah, Absent Sounds is still #1 for me by a good bit, but this holds up well as my second favorite by them.
Seeing them on Tuesday. Super impressed with how much staying power this has had, and how much I still like it. Even more surprised how much I like Absent Sounds, having come back to it in preparation for the show. I remember being super disappointed with it, and not revisiting it after a few listens.
Agree with both @FTank and @RobbieBerns - great staying power and a brilliant album. My favourite by them. Although I do think autumnal evenings were the best time to listen to this. It had that autumn/winter thoughtful meandering lack of daylight feel.
Friday night was my first time seeing these guys, and I loved it to say the least. I was a bit skeptical of how everything would transition to a live setting, especially Joey's softer vocals, but every song they played sounded amazing.
if anyone ever calls me out for only liking when bands go soft, i'm going to lead them here i haven't listened to this in a long while now and i still love able bodies
pretty sure i've been called out in the past when people have put the "going quieter = maturing to you = better to you?" argument on me. this is proof that isn't the case to me, haha
